Sent from the secret chambers of our secret society, on a secret iPhone, with a secret pin code and eye retina scanning from a secret peep hole, just don't tell anyone OK, cos it's secret........

Sweet, we sure do have a huge back yard!
Great to break it down to manageable chunks though.
This is what happens to crap tyres after about 20000. Mostly towing
Fronts are ok at about 70%

..........on the move.
Looks like they were over inflated?
Some stats from the trip
Km's traveled - 15112
Liters used - 2901
L/100 - 19.2
Cost per km- $.316
I didn't count the last tank so probably closer to 16000 ks. Bloody looooong way but well worth it
........... On the move
Just noticed this thread, where the hell are you now,
Cooktown is an awesome spot, IMO. I'll re read the lot
and check later tonight, stay safe
Yeah I town a large gardening trailer and chew through tyres on the rear so only hunt around for cheap 2nd hand tyres.
No matter how expensive the tyre they just wear too quickly so dont bother with expensive new tyres.
I still have my KM2's for having fun...
So mate has reality kicked in yet??????

It definitely looked like it wanted to attack. Go back try it again but get closer. Just love watching ockys in the water, so strange looking creatures.
Publicly speaking to a private audience.
Haha, I tried getting closer earlier but he moved real quick. Would have been pi55 funny garbing it and walking out with it in front all the Asian tourists.....hhahahah

Hi Kris,
Just re-read the whole thread, I'm looking at doing this in June next year. We'll include Kakadu, Darwin and Fraser Island etc. Just the two of us (empty nesters) so don't need to do Surfers etc.
A couple of questions to start with (probably more to come):
Why did you choose to go clockwise?
Where did you leave the van when you went to the tip?
Cheers
Apollofish
Good on ya, you will love it no doubt! We loved every minute of it and planning to go again very soon....hopefully for longer.
We did not really have any plans in place so just decided to go that way but the Neurum forum meet-up timing help that decision. To tell you the truth we were just ganna go up to Cape and then down slowly but changed our minds and decided to the centre as well.
We towed the van up to Weipa and left it at the caravan park in their shed. It was only $7 a night . We could have easly driven to Seisia or Bamaga but not knowing the conditions we left it at Weipa. The road got fairly rough as soon as we crossed the Jardine river but still easly could have got the van up there.
No problems at all mate, just ask ahead
I've been looking through some of the vids of our trip last year. This is the road from Comooweal to Gregory Downs.. ...Looks pretty tame compared what it was really like but here it is...LOL
I've made these vids public with a link

Reminiscing old mate...lol
Couldn’t have been that bad if you were able to get along at 95kph!
Worst corrugations we experienced (not far away, between Adels Grove & Lawn Hill) we christened ‘Boob Shakers’ (for obvious reasons :) ) & they saw our speed averaging under 10kph. Mind you I suppose a bus is rather different to a Patrol.
Cuppa
Yeah but Kris is a psycho!
You're right Cuppa, the vids were taken on the common tracks. . Even tough we were there in early August they had rains two weeks before we arrived. One bit was nearly impassable (around 10km long). Some still wet and very rutted. Getting through that bit was a challenge(only 5km out of town). it was fun but had me worried at all times. The caravan was a dream to tow though!!
Yeah yeah,,,,no vids ...too farking worried to get through..lol
