They are perfectly fine for a static installation.

Not going to argue about it but any wiring job that has a SL somewhere in the system
that will be the weak spot and it will fail on a 4x4... TJM wired my trailer plug with scotch locks
as it was time effective [cheap] had a huge talk about why they shouldn't be used.
Now all TJM shops use solder and heatshrink on all
trailer plug installs never had a problem since
Solder might be better than scotch locks but it will fail way before a proper crimp. That's why NASA solders nothing.
I agree for the most part but, actually, NASA soldered everything when they alledgedly lobbed a few blokes onto the Moon.
NASA set a standard called HRHS (High Reliability Hand Soldering) which was a bastard qualification to get but set the bar for the best part of 30 years.
I must have soldered about 200 bifurcates before I got enough to pass.
Crimping is now the standard in aerospace and rightfully so due to repeatability, quality assurance, ease of inspection and weight saving.
... I try... I fail a lot but I try :icon_bonk:
Pretty much all the interconnects from my era were soldered.
Thought I had seen the last of them when I left the RAAF but a heap of telemetry gear I am changing out at the moment (80's vintage) over here in W.A. has 2 PCB's with 50 odd soldered bifurcate terminals on them.
Glad to see the last of those suckers I tell ya.
Therm-a-Rest BaseCamp self-inflating mattress. XL version will fit nicely in my ARB single swag...just have to wait for it from the 'States now...:(
We splice joined 7 /067 cable then soldered at tech when doing our apprenticeships, never used it in the field.
That takes me back
I could imagine...
For others following if your interested in what wire wrap is...
I knew they used the procedure on the Shuttle but found out later it went all the way back to the Apollo and earlier. The guidance computers and everything were done with wire wrap. I hated it, mainly because when repairing stuff it was a pain to work on. See the pics on the Wiki page...what a nightmare!
Bugger if you had a bit of a hot spot in the middle of the board. Locomotives used mainly spade lugs for medium voltage contactor control, crimped and/or soldered lugs for high voltage motor control.
Mongrel job re-soldering joiners in while standing between traction motors.
Just awaiting the postage costs and then it'll be sent..
So far communications have been excellent with the seller and they have been more than happy to link videos showing different notes..
Also a egt socket added at no extra cost..

Full spare belt and hose kit (kindly put together and plastic sealed by PatrolApart) as backup for family trip to warmer weather in September:-)
Can't wait, CNE Victoria today has just proven it's 3rd season in 1 day theory, waiting for snow here now 4th :-)
You should put the new hoses and belts on the truck Mark and keep the used ones for spares.

These guys are 5 minutes up the road from me, might call in one day to see what they offer for the tb45.. My only concern would be undoing nuts n bolts that have been covered in all kind of crap, over the last nearly 20 years.

Yeh he is a nice bloke. I actually picked up my Runva winched from him at his Packenham store. Although I saw somewhere that the store is now closed and he's only trading online?
Brought some black glue for my Hot Glue Gun so I can repair
my radiator shroud, boy are those shrouds brittle. lol
I bought new wiper blades yesterday.... The Bosch Aerotwin style, but repco brand.
returned them today (well, one of them) after the other decided to part company with the wiper arm on the freeway during heavy rain. Got a refund on both though....
Dam. That would have been interesting..
I purchased plastic backed ones as its all they had in stock, dam things don't touch the whole way across..
The drivers side leaves the middle and the passenger one leaves the far left of screen..
