Evening Ross,
How's things with DX Grunt lately?
Night Growlers,
I'm still slurpin' the turps.
good evening GUtsy Ute and Dx Grunt.
sitting in front of the fan waiting for the predicted Southerly change and storms to roll through. We are off on a trip this weekend that crosses the Condamine River 14 times - now, it isn't much of a river, as I understand it and Dhuck says it is normally 300mm deep at its deepest. However BOM is predicting 60 - 100 mm rain on the Darling Downs - so I'm looking forward to some fun. Apparently the road is closed if too much water - more time in camp taking pickies with Steve (O4OFF).
night all.
morning all on here
Morning all.
Got stuck into Home and Away last night, then fell asleep on the couch. Sorry folks.
Big day yesterday. Stood out in the sun for a couple of hours and spent the rest of the day being driven around in the car.
Even in the Str2elecki Desert the mighty and reliable GQ can be relied upon to find water for its (i)mature driver :harhar:
Solar's on. Pics taken. Now to find the cord to download them! Derrrrrrr, Rossco. lol
those elusive cords can be a problem here as well, DxGrunt. So can remembering all the steps involved in getting a photo from phone to laptop via bluetooth :-(
well, I'm off to torment my guitar, and then to bed. Have fun all, and keep safe!! (and good luck with that cord, looking forward to the photos)
evening all
evening nowoolies, having a nice scotch on rocks before bed.
Hope things are going well on your side of the continent, except of course for that fire..........
g`day mate
what a hell of a happening down south
would`nt be surprised if it was a deliberate start , so many tossers out there doing that sort of thing
i hope this season is a easy one, fire wise that is
thought you were tortureing your guitar tonight or is that by way of drinking in front of it hahahahah
torture guitar first, then drink to recover :-)
Media reports over here reporting the Minister as saying that Dept Nat Resources thought they'd finished the burn, but wind came up, and fired up embers out of a chimney tree or similar which got out of the fire area and took off.
Hear what you are saying about pyros. I used to belong to Glenbrook/Lapstone volunteer bushfire brigade in the late 70s and early 80s, then left when I moved out of the mountains. A few years later a newer member of the brigade was convicted of arson.
We used to put in a few days and nights every couple of years in the Grose Valley controlling fires that were escaped ha2ard reductions from the adjoining council area.
I don't know what the solution to houses in built up suburbia butting up to bush, and fires in bushland -my brother in law has built a house on a road at Springwood that used to get pretty hot 30 years ago when it was just a dirt track. At least in this house, unlike his last house, there is more than one road in and out.

off to bed. Keep well nowoolies and any lurkers :-)
Hey there. Its night and therefore i have given the night shift a look in. Um... weather has been hot with patchs of rain here in tas. Can feel summer is coming. Its probably already here for most of you mainlanders. Hope everyone is gearing up for an awesome Xmas break
Still recovering from the Condamine trip taslucas. Nipper was super excited so we got up early Sat and Sun mornings - and I had a late night Fri and Sat :-)
ha ha nice. Late nights and early mornings are part and parcel of a good trip:) So wheres the condamine? -(i know nothing of the east coast of aus!) What sort of tracks are there?
South East Qld is the bit we drove on, the Condamine River is part of the Murray - Darling system - but where we were was a pretty little stream through the hills - kinda inland from the Gold Coast.
Track was pretty easy - it could get dangerously deep, or super muddy in parts, but they close it before that happens
good stuff:) sounds like a nice place. But i do like super muddy sometimes! lol
where the track itself was muddy, it just had slop on top of a firm base - there were options off to the side that looked like the slop was a fair bit deeper.
heading off to bed now. Night
'night taslucas.
Off to bed myself shortly
Another night where the west aussies have to hold the fort. lol.
Gotta love the time difference between east and west.
evening DX
