Great stuff I was under the impression that the stick with
the two holes was softwood and the turning stick hardwood. is that right??
This is right up OD's alley, me Id go to Bunnings [hardware store] and buy some timber to suit. lol

Some ram horn scales arrived from the UK,
as you can see plenty of natural scales ranging from black and white streaky buffalo
to the jigged buff [black ribbed] then the butterscotch horn and natural ram horn.
Do have some rose wood scales .
Also next time up the Murray Im gunna cut a knob off a river red gum
and see how they look. lol
Yes some make the turning stick (drill) out of harder wood then the stick with the holes in, they do this to increase the usage of the difficult to make drill and just replace the wood with the holes in. You don't want to use resinous wood like pine because the resin acts as a lubricant.
You want the pivot block (handle) to be a hard wood or even a rock, but i made it all from the one type of wood and it worked well.
Thanks for that I'll see what i can come up with ,
i have plenty of Norfolk Is pine and cypress but they are too sticky,
however there are some fruit wood off cuts I'll try, Ill use a 12mm dowel as turning stick
we'll see live and learn, better than using two hand imo lol
Nice work Onkey, well thought out.
There's a survival thread on the forum that would be a great section for a step by step walk through if you ever get time to knock 1 up?
I carry multiple methods of fire lighting in my Troll, survival bag and EDC grab bag

@ OD found a couple of my missing knives not my hand made seki city drop point,
but at least Ive found some, going to keep them under lock and key from now on..
Scored this Browning Tanto last night,$10
I'm thinking the nylon sheath will let it down.
but luckily I know someone who can fix that lol
Heres an awesome mosaic pin and cheap too.

Also brought 12 of these clips, they just look handy when used with some Para cord
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2X-Hangin...item541cb62aee
I've had my eye on 1 of those blades as well, haven't got around to buying it yet.
I have quite a few of those clips, they're awesome to use for tarps, hootchies etc, have set munchkins cadet patrol gear up with a heap of them.
Nice score finding some of your gear again.

Yeah figured those clips would come in handy for a heap of jobs around camp.
Looking forward to when they arrive now. I have plenty of Para cord as well.
Onkey used some for his Bow in the fire starting kit,
Some new goodies just in, United Cuttlery throwers and Perfect Point throwers

Just stumbled across Zippo's new 4 in 1 axe, I want 1!!!
They look great and functional as well, size isn't an issue if stored in the troll.

Hi mate yeah can see that coming in handy,
well thought out who ever did it. US$$$ is too strong ATM IMO
Unfortunately it is a bit high to make any O/S purchases in USD [emoji24]

im dying to get the Colt Alamo bowie with the stag handle.
even freight ,is too high as well , I'll wait
http://stores.ebay.com.au/The-Surviv...p2047675.l2563
might find something in this shop
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201436188...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Couldnt help myself at that price,,,,lol will go well with my other hatchetts.
Got some more in my watch list as well
Yo Jase here's a ripper slightly larger than normal is this Columbia Hatchet [left]
It does have scales just hard to see, this will go well with my others.
Looks like its been stamped to give it a textured finish, I likey
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Sharp...id%3D100102%26
That new Colombia looks pretty good, let us know what it's like when you get it.
I don't mind this blade, reminds me of a US Kabar but with a crappy sheath. Will have to find someone to make a new 1 when I can afford to buy the knife [emoji12][emoji12]

Its already here,,,, very good feel in the hand, with a handy lanyard.
A touch heavier than my others . might have to use these as throwing hatchettes
Here it is next to my M-Tech , very handy size
For a pack axe I like that mtech axe, what did it set you back?

Yo OD getting a bit bored, so playing with my knives [as you do] I thought maybe
I would pin the coffin style handle on either My Gil Hibben old West Bowie
or on one which is similar.
I know youre not a fan of pins but I think it would enhance the look IMO
thinking 3 rows fanning out
That M-Tech has a very nice weight to it as well
couldnt find any links , Ill have another look
I'd use pins from a single piece rod or mosaic pins, it's a pain to get the split pins to match up. I'd leave the GH alone and do it on 1 of the others
Never underestimate the power of the tap, let it flow through you.
yeah pretty attached to the GH especially for the price[$50]
Only hatchet I found the same was $82,
not even E-Cop or BladeBrothers sell it
They are round headed brass studs easy to apply imo
Here's a good link if you have any spare blades [emoji41][emoji41]

these may be handy for some to keep a tarp tight or little jobs around camp.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Outdoor-S...3D350514449209
and this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161857313...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
These arrived today, the smaller one reminds me of a Gerber Myth,
the larger one is a horse, happy with both , crappy nylon sheaths let both down.
Not entirely sure a leather sheath would enhance them .
Both sharp and ready to go. The bottom one could easily
grow on you its a fair bit of steel lol
I thought it was a double up with this middle knife but it dwarfs it side by side.
Loving the saw blade hatchett to, too many ideas now
Love the Tanto, got a link to it?
Is that the saw blade pic I sent you?
Never underestimate the power of the tap, let it flow through you.
Its from Blades-Discount here's one I think you'll like couldnt find my one
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mtech-Xtr...0AAOSwr81UQqH1
If I could pick one fault on that tanto is I'd like the blade to be a bit thicker,
feels a bit light in the hand to me. Still a nice Tanto
Yeah one of your pics, might give ppl some ideas
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/M48-OPS-C...-/271820472134
Worth while getting one now at this price
This pic will let you know how big it is
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/361434847...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Still waiting on this big baby to come in, You can get this style as a special Op "Dont tread on me"
or the same but commemorating the Alamo, not cheap but an awesome looking unit, IMO
Cant find that Tanto anywhere Ill wait till he re-lists it
@ OD check out Bucks site in the States you can now customize any knife. by
selecting bolsters, pins, blade style/colour.hardness etc ,even engraving
these are 3 x 110 I customized as an example
Nice, I new that option was coming from Buck Knives but wasn't aware it had been bought in yet.
The Tanto style knife you just got (SR knifes) is based off the Trakker style blades.
I did just get the MTech Call of Duty "Ghost" knife, that's 1 hell of a sturdy blade, full tang and around 4 mm thick.
Also got the Gerber "Strong Arm" knife come in the other day, not quite as heavy as my LMFII but just as good.
Will put up some pics shortly [emoji12][emoji12]

This is the Gerber Strong Arm. Mines black and not tan and also has no serrations on the blade.

As you customize your knife the price adjust as well. my son has a nickle bolster 110
and Buck told me it was a custom knife, We brought it on line from that mob in Tassie.
Thinking thats a keeper now,
Love that blank cant use natural scales it will have to be man made IMO
The Gerber is well thought out too. keep the pics coming eh
I find the LMF a bit clunky for my delicate paws, perhaps the Strong arm would suit me well.
I'll have to look into it. I wonder if anywhere does christmas sales on these.
@ OD is that blank from Premium?
@ RRR Just check some of the links, havent seen a xmas sale yet
best bet is an auction IMO
Gerber do a Bear Grylls version that is a smaller version of the LMFII which may be better for you, if you go back through this thread, I posted up comparison pics of both of them side by side.
@TD the blank was from Wholesale Earth Knife Supply in the US.
Will be going wood scales more than likely but sure yet, will have a look and see what Dean has available as he's now stocking knife making gear.
