Hi all just. I’m wanting to rebuild a 99 gu 2.8 gearbox. It’s for my sons 18th and just want some advice as to rebuild kits, manuals. It’s my parents old car they are handing down to their grandson. It was stopped being driven last yr and we dropped the oil out of transmission and there was quite a bit of metal in there. It was hard to get into and out of 2 gear. I’m quite handy with rebuilding thing just want to know the right parts I might need and a manual to guide me through. I’m going to get the basic kit with bearings and seals then purchase parts that are damaged when I come a cross them. So any ideas for places for cheap gears sincros if I need them. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Also I have read the previous posts and I can’t believe the knowledge a lot of you have and that you are so generous to pass it on. Any info, videos or website that you have knowledge of that could assist would be fantastic. Thank you in advance

Hi mate, just read your two posts, as you seem to have garnered, you will learn alot more from the members on here than the manuals. If you have a specific question (such as rebuild kitsch etc) I suggest starting a thread with your questions and intentions? Alot of the more knowledgeable members dont venture into this thread as most people that come here are one post wonders "thanks for the manual" never to be seen again.

I'm fighting with parts of an German Y60 Service Manual. Seems the authors or translators skipped some "unnecessary" Pictures and Instructions...drives me crazy

Just about to undertake manual transmission removal on patrol GU 2.8 1998
Does the gearbox need to be twisted to remove due to the starter motor bulge? and what size key for 2 top bolts
Any suggestions would be great
