Dw bout me Rossco, i've had to assemble cars from buckets of bolts and boots full of parts before a few wires here and there shouldn't be a problem lol

Racket peanut steering...
Got my car back this morning so I could begin stripping the loom and interior....... all the crap I have added is whats killing me.
I will start from scratch with all my extra wiring and do it much better.. should make a big difference having a blank template.
My back is hurting from leaning into the cab for a few hours... wahoo !!!!
Mark dropped around this morning with main seals for the engine and gearbox plus some extra bits he sells.
It is overwhelming when I look at every little thing that needs doing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
spent a bit of time under the bonnet of my GQ on the weekend stripping out some wiring too. sorting out the 24v and removing the second battery will mean everything needs redoing and rewiring to the main battery. Did a cull a couple of yeas ago and ripped out a heap of old wiring that was redundant but remained in place, found some more on the weekend not doing anything!
Bloody hope i can put it back together when the time comes.
You will be right Jonno, when your done i will call you up to sort mine out!!
I would love to have a TD42 parked next to mine on Saturday for an hour with no distractions.... problem with every time I have looked at a car its while gas bagging like an old mole.
you can have mine dude. I can drop round n give ya a hand if ya like matey.
All boring stuff Matty... just chipping away but more than welcome to come around... would be nice to talk to someone else for a change!!!!
Any news on the donk?
My car will be good to go this weekend if you want a squizz sunshine.
Do you want me to stop in sometime this week and give you a hand man!!!

Jonathan. Please take a photo of that wiring jammed under your carpet and show the good people of np.com.au! I have never seen so many wires! Even a few relays thrown under the carpet for good measure. You gotta see this guys. And his bloody doof doof fully sick subwoofer in the back! Oh my gawd! Unce! Unce! Unce! Its mad bro!
Doing the TD conversion will be the easy part. Its the wiring BA really needs to worry about.
When its time for the wiring I suggested he run a bunch of wires through the firewall and just leave hanging on either side. Used from some seven core trailer wire. Then he has more than enough wires to use for pretty much everything. This is what I did, I ran two lots of seven core through 1 inch ID flexi tubing so I no longer need to run wires, just join at either end. All colour coded too...
Any of the pro auto elec's think it good to do that? This will be a nightmare of a job....
For the rest of this week Kev I will not be getting heaps done... Saturday I will try and hook in but for now I will hunt down some more parts and do the odd bit here and there, Fridays are pretty much a no go with kids chores and shopping.
Did not sleep again last night and I am not sure if because of this or if its something else??
No dramas mate! But you know what, i like scaring him with the threat of my lil brother around like on saturday when he and one of my other mates Rohan where here and they got smart so i started to fire up my brother and told him to put them to sleep with an arm triangle choke hold and they both ran off quick smart hahahaa
Its a diesel, nuff said!! Lol nah when i get a chance i'm going to measure the clearances of the cylinder with the highest comp, reset the others and re asses the condition of the motor.
Saying that i need time, my bro and i are running the shop while my dads away and we've taken on enough work for 4 people so time is the only problem
Really?? Trailer wire?? Thats only 7 or 10 amp wire, half the things he runs thru those switches need atleast 15 - 20amp wire so they don't burn out.
Yeah I didn't write that too well...when you run everything via a relay, thats all you need. The heavier wire required obviously run that separate. But I have all my relays in the engine bay and the switching wires via the tube I have fit through the firewall. Plus extras for other things I may want to fit...
Are you winning with the loom swap Bloodyaussie? I've taken out my entire dash and front interior only to realize how different my two looms are. I was planning on splicing them together but they seem to have different wires and they even run in different directions.
I think the difference between a series 1 TD loom and series 2 EFI loom is too different. I thought they would have been the same in cab but they aren't.
I'm at a loss as to what to do, I'm not very good with this wiring business. I feel like if I splice them together something will go wrong somewhere. Any suggestions? Do I just modify the EFI loom to suit the diesel?
I though those looms you buy for the conversions are just plug and pray.
Not up to that mate.... I am in no super rush so it maybe Saturday before I have the efi loom out and compare them on the ground.. I have been told the loom I have bought is a straight swap over as they are both series 2 looms.
Time will tell.. welcome to look at my loom if you like.
My loom was stripped out of a series 1 TD wagon. Where do you buy the plug and play looms from?
I'll be fiddling with mine again on Saturday. I'm really anxious to get it all in. I'm just not sure if I should adapt the TB loom or try and wing it and hope everything works with the TD loom.. It's a lot of work if it doesn't. I might need to come and have a look at yours.

Try this bloke out http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261058642498 he does most ls - patrol conversion looms
Thanks for that guys. Pretty pricey but I'll have a look into it.
Thought I was not going to today but ended up pulling out my dash and all my dodge wiring... just have to tackle the birds nest that is the alarm that was installed by the previous owner and it is all back to stock..
The next step is to do a big tidy up and taking stock before removing the loom as a whole otherwise it will get to crazy and I will get lost in it all!!!
I have ordered the sound deadening stuff from overseas and went to clark rubber to get some rubber bungs that were missing.
Have not found any money only a parking docket for 1997.
I have decided to "kiss" and run less and more simple set up... the air conditioning system is disgusting and one of the filters looks like a 3 pack a day smokers lungs...yuck !!!!
I have also decided not to try and be ready for the forum meet as it will put to much pressure on me and it is not necessary ... it will be ready when its ready.
And one other thing I am thinking of a decent alarm??? any suggestions.
Viper alarm with gps tracker!!
Attachment 48081
control your car from your phone
The alarm is roughly 350 ( or was that my price lol ) then the tracker was about the same plus 100$ a year
There was a company who wanted to advertise on here with trackers a few years back.
Unknown brand from china and asked if I wanted one to try...sure!
Plugged it in the charger at work went for a smoke and came back and my desk was smoking, the battery had swelled up and almost caught fire...lol
With the amount of thefts happening I'm super paranoid now. I need to get something like that George and would be money well spent for peace of mind!
Oki so i just speaking with my brother and he thinks the viper alarm was $450, the smart start tracker was $150 and there was 3 plans for the tracking system, I THINK it was $65, $99 and $125 but i need to confirm it. If you want Jonathan let me know
hey George I'd be keen on a bit now info of alarm. I was researching gps trackers the othwr night for mine.
