mate, i dont mean to be picky but that clamp is gonna get hooked up on heaps of sh!t out on the tracks. Maybe get a smaller one or cut that one down?
and the blue clamp seriously reduces your departure angle....
Either did I........ You bone heads!!!!!!!!
I am enjoying doing this just wish I had more time so I could finish it sooner.
I have one issue and not sure how to tackle it and that is the main step in the middle has a bend in it the length along the bottom where the inch and a half pipe is running along.
My plan was top join this the whole length but it will not bend??? what should I do?? I will take a pic tomorrow of what I mean..

Flat out with work but any spare moment building this rear bar...
Still have a lot more welding and bracing plus grinding back to do but overall I am bloody happy for a person who has never made anything even close to this before...

Have to make swing aways next..
Looking good mate, well done
Good work, so where are the rear lights gonna go?
Ahhhh secret squirrel stuff hey
That's what the clamps were for to hold some lights on :)
You bozo's make me smile after dealing with kids that wont eat there bloody dinner!!!!!!
I think I will make the jerry can holder first and worry about the wheel carrier when I have free time....
are you gonna brace the tubes somehow to stop them from being pushed inwards when you wack something???...................... whats for dinner, any left overs? I'm hungry
Finished the bar for now the other day... I need to add the lights which arrived today and the swing away for the jerry cans.
I will take the bar back off next month and get George to go over everything and tidy up all the welds but for my first ever build of this type I am happy.
I just gave it a quick few coats until it gets blasted and powder coated.

Good job man. Looked better with the clamps though. And probably would have been better if you had a LoKKa in the front diff :) hahahahhahahahaha
you could use some 4mm x 50mm flat to frame your tail lights and protect them at the same time.
looking at welds might be better to bog them then paint them
But seriously nice bar Johnny boy.... now what's in your jocks?
There ya go princess thread tidied for you
You are sweet...
Car is at Georges workshop today getting a tune before the holiday break.. got some drop boxes the other day and would like to find some time to fit them.
Also will try and rebuild the engine today and get ready for fitting over the holidays...
Well today I finally got around to replacing my radius arms and fitting drop boxes and what I thought would be a couple of hours turned into many!!!
First thing was one of the bolts for the arms would not come out... it had seized into the sleeve and after much time wasted I found I had some spare bolts from the donor car so I cut the bugger in 2 peices.
My old arms were not in good condition and the castor correction bushes were stuffed.
After that drama everything else came out relatively easy and then I set up all the gear for the install.
I had a set of radius arms I got ages ago from a GU and after an easy install of the drop boxes I started the task of fitting the new arms, this got hard..!!
I had 3 jacks and all to manipulate the diff as it was miles off from where the castor bushes had it lined up, I got one side in ok but the other was a lot tougher.
I found once I put the main jack onto the front shaft where it comes out the diff it twisted the diff into place but it still needed to come forward and 4-5cm so I ran my winch off my garage and back to the diff and used that to pull the diff forward.. couple of little tweeks and it was in!!! yeeeeee!!!
I did find when putting everything else back together that the GU has a different mounting for the sway bar.. so now I need som GU mounts.. bugger!!! so no sway bar connected on the front at the moment.
I thought the springs I bought for the front were way to firm (many of you know) but Benny told me to hold off on my decision until I fitted drop boxes and he was right!!
The ride is so much better and the and I have my steering back as before it under steered heaps??
One of the biggest things was watching my driveline straighten up and is no longer kinked from both front and rear shafts..
I have to thank Benny boy so much for his advice as he helped me make up my mind about this mod and what was to be gained from it... brilliant!!!! thanks Benny!!!!!!

Nice job mate. That second last photo shows how much blood was spilt during the job...
Nice mate.
My plan to go drop boxes when I get a 3" lift.
Funny thing Hodgey is I managed to keep things to a minimum this time round.... only one little knick on my finger (Growler will be dissapointed )
Yes Kallen it is defiantly the way to go..... I popped round to Mudskis and he could see the benefit of running drop boxes over castor correction...
I have yet to go on the freeway to see if the vibration I have been getting is still there (only started after I lifted 4 inch)
Also whipped up some rear mudflaps but need some more chain to stop them going forward into the wheel.. another job for tomorrow before packing.
The biggest difference you'll notice is the way it soaks up the bigger bumps, the easiestway is to go to Bunnings or a shopping centre with sharp steep speed bumps, before you would have felt the the front bounce over the bump now you will feel the suspension soak it up, it will be noticeable.
Nah Drop Boxes are over rated! Who'd have them. They get caught on everything, look like crap and don't do anything and the cops will pin you over and over again!!!!
I know this cause I read it on Face Book!! And they know Everything there!
Hence why I dont use FB. I saw the Q in the flesh today and I had to comment on how the old girl has changed so much in the last twelve months. For the better of course, BA has definitely changed his rig into a well equipped and looking machine. TBH, I didn't think much of the Q's at the start but his work has plenty changed my thoughts.
