They, the police say they are trained to deal with the situation etc. Which of course they are.
If I called for police assistance at home it will be 20 minutes minimum for them to get here from town. That may be different if a car was closer and not on another job.
I don't know about response times in the major cities, but if my or my neighbours gear was at risk I would try and do something no matter how quick they get here.
