My TD42 would be screaming at 4000rpm, it is just off red lining at 4k pretty rare that I go past 3500rpm.

Lost interest. My posts appear to be Invisible so Fuckit! Fuck the TD, good luck with it.
They are fairly noisy when you get there but it won't kill it that's for sure. My gu will turn easily to 4000rpm they aren't quiet about it and I'm pushing 25psi with a 3" straight through pipe.
I'm not saying you should do it every gear change just but not being scared to do it occasionally isn't a bad thing. Maybe it's just me but mine will see 3500rpm every time I drive and it's still going well at 330k on original motor with original pump and injectors.

The tacho is more like a guideline than a rule. Anyway, I've heard that a diesel's bore can get glazed if they don't get worked hard enough. Is that true NN?
