Dents have been fixed by a local bloke, pick up tomorrow, can't wait!
Not the best time of year in Melbourne to respray it in the shed!
Good excuse to put a pot belly in the shed I reckon

That was one hell of a fancy bush pinstripe!!
Nice one AB. Looks sik mate. When you make your drawers i can highly recommend setting up your oven to access through the side sliding window. Works great if you can make that work with the swinging door.
Oh Yeah... Rattle Can for teh win mate. Just get a couple of cans mixed to your paint code at any decent Auto paint shop.
Had to do a few ring arounds today to find a shop who would actually colour match a pressure pack rather than just put the colour code into the machine.
Or purchase a min of 10 litres!
Thanks mate yeah Paint Away in Bayswater do it too, just take in my fuel cap cover plate.
I rang a few Body auto shops and they all just colour match to the code otherwise min quanity of 10 litres.
The one shop I rang I used to use years ago and they said it just wasn't worth their time anymore for one can, etc.
The poor old girl has been given some love.
Ripped out the entire rear cupboard set up, it did well but hindered packing for family trips with no room!
Spray day tomoz, I drove all the way to Supercrap Auto to get a colour match pressure pack but low and behold their system does not have my colour damn you BJ9K!!!
The chick said well would BJ5k do maybe, probably not mate that's probably yellow!
Interesting though their system does not list any Patrols as Patrol only Infiniti, even GQ's?
Anyways, heading to Bayswater at Sparrows to exact match and taking in the old doors...lol
Ta da, fresh new panel ready to be scratched to bits again!
Will be interesting to see how it matches with a body that's 28 years old and 2 different doors from a different mother right beside this panel.

It'll be close enough mate and look 10000% better than it did.

Looks good mate. Is thete a shadow or shade across that top secrion or is that just the pic? Also what did you do anout the pin stripe
Must be the pic mate the coat was good.
I masked up to the stripe mate and straight up after that.
It's a little light compared to the foster doors but I just need a very tight track to scratch it all up again lol

I'm a little bit peed...
I'm happy with my spray but holy crap the colour is completely different!
Too light for my body but way off the foster doors making the car look very mismatched to be honest.
How can I make this look somewhat unifiedish <--- new word that should be in the dictionary!!
Would a full cut and polish help?
Take it down a track of destruction to scratch up the entire LHS of the car of the new doors and panel spray or suck it up princess and wait until summer for a basic full outer spray of vehicle?
Or give Lachy a red bull and a bucket of stones for finger painting?
This will annoy me everyday I walk past it :(
It's my fault I guess getting the guy to try and match the petrol cap on the other side which was severely scratched up and looks like this colour!!!
Yes yes old Gq vehicle that gets punished but this contrast is too much for my OCD!http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...018/05/228.jpg

Cut the back off and put a tray and jack on / off canopy on it will fix most of your problems :)
Or just bring it here and leave it..... I would't care what the paint job looks like as long as the motor actually turns over :)
Or just spray it again I guess damn it!!!

Rubber flare back on mate and two laps of your dusty road and she’ll be 90% outa OCD range!

On lap of 'Darrens Pinstripe Track' and it won't be noticeable - err sorry, that's where this all began didn't it?
Stop sooking PB, my canvas bedroom looks like a granny’s patch work quilt these days :-(

Blame the navi.
Nah that is shit AB. Im colour blind and that is miles away from a match mate. Take the car down to the paint store and get him to match it. Or ask an auto paint shop to do a code match for you. Even if you pay the guy $20 to come outside with his big colour book and get the right code then take that code to superchrap for a can.
Yeah no one has my code though damn it, Supercheap, auto paint shops, etc.
I'll have to take that door off and take it in I think as I can't drive it all the way to Bayswater with no flares. With the GU diffs and tyres it looks savage on the road!
I could just put the flares back on and mask up to flares too I guess.
If this is going to annoy you into the next dimension, drive it down to the panel guy who sprays rossco's shell and get him to colour match and spray it for you. At some point you will have to compromise on the match anyway as the back won't be the same as the sides or the roof or inside the glovebox. If thats too difficult spray it candy apple pink which would look really HOT
Pretty well what I was saying too but ask him just to give you a paint code for his colour match. Give him $20 for his time or ask him to mix up a 1lt pot.
The guy I bought my paint from had a colour swatch book that had maybe 200 different whites!!! He would certainly be able to give you a code using his swatch book.
Thread dig!
Not much has happened with the old girl but I have noticed a small amount of coolant loss only when towing the 2 tonne van.
No bubbles, no oil contamination, etc so just came home with a new radiator cap from Patrolapart as I think its not been sucking coolant back in from the overflow and saw what looked like residue on the overflow outlet.
Hopefully an easy fix, I highly doubt I have a head gasket issue so fingers crossed.
Got a 110 OEM cap as well so going to hook up the van and give it a reaming!
EDIT: Pretty sure it is the cap because on the way up to Murrindindi it got a little bit hot up the slide (my famous hill) and it lost a cup of coolant but on the way back home its an easy run down hill, temps fine and just checked coolant with zero loss so fingers firmly crossed!
Check for bubbles in the radiator cap too while you are there.
