Attachment 53955
Boar collector
Attachment 53956
I don't know if you guys remember but I bought a sanjia and received a Colombia river knife anyway got to use it in the field a couple of weeks ago and it performed brilliantly, stayed sharp after hitting some bone, skin and dirt. For a knife under $10 its awesome haha
My new (and first) knife, probably common as hell but I'm quite happy it and the quality of it.
Attachment 53960
Hopefully more to come, I see a lot of you have quite a decent collection of them!
The USMC KaBars are great. I have an identical 1 in pic but it is half the size and is awesome.
I bought it on whim, honestly surprised at the build quality on it. Haven't had too much of a chance to use it yet though.
Love that Natchez Bowie , named after Jim Bowies brother' "see edit"
that Boar collector looks a hell of a lot like United Cutlery's Highlander
Ka-Bar have a great name with the signature stacked leather handle
Edit;; Jim Bowie's brother was Rezin , Natchez is a town
Pic is Jim Bowies brother "actual" knife made by James Black the blacksmith
I love the CS Taipan.... Amazing blade! The look on the War Offices face when she saw it was priceless!
I love the look of the Natchez bowie! massive knife....
I think that both OD, 3D and I have the same CRKT knife you got and if its the one I think, it's a bloody good and, IMO, a very under-rated knife!
@ Jimmyboyjr4.... you certainly can't go wrong with a Ka-Bar as your first knife! I don't think I've seen a cr@p one yet. Good purchase mate!

Whats everyones take on this I dont think its that old
well not 1850 anyway,I reckon the IXL is a reference to size not a date
Plus back in 1850 would you worry about etching a work knife, I have a few knives from the early 1800s
and they are plain Janes IMO

check out video especially guy and the dummy RPML
Tough call on that Bowie 3D.... It looks the goods but, as you said, did they etch their blades back then? I don't ever recall seeing an etched blade, growing up... I keep thinking about 'Pawn Stars' and their experts saying "Sorry, but this knife was made in 1980...."
At Alitist those San Jia Columbia River knives are great,, good feel,, nice weight and as you said sharp as well.
IMO a great knife let down by a pissy nylon sheath,, step in OD for a quality leather homemade sheath
that will last a life time,
Heres some more buckles from OD as he said they are very good qality
Couple of my favourites there lol
and yes its a stubbie opener,
PM OD for details
The double edge is what I'm curious about, how does ut feel whilr you're using it ?? Unless its a show piece? ?
The only down fall I can see with that ckrt is that is a little small for a hack knife but i can definitely tell you its going to get well used from now on haha

That bloke is the owner of Coldsteel knifes and I seear he has a sick fetish with those dummies lol you should see him in action with some of the other knifes like the 6"Ti-light haha
I'm sure its a high carbon stainless steel like the ka bar and my leatherneck so it holds its edge exceptionally well.
Yeah I will definitely do that, maybe a colustom pouch to hold a few?? We'll see lol
Hes a comparo between the ka bar and the leather neck

I got my leatherneck today and can't wait to use it haha Attachment 53992 instead of me going on about it here are the specs http://www.coldsteel.com/Product/LEA...CK_SERIES.aspx and it in action http://youtu.be/UZ7pG4SCxeQ
Cold Steel is my favourite knife maker! I love the leatherneck knife! It will last you many lifetimes! (I, too, would have a CS over a Ka-bar but that's just personal choice, as both are quality blademakers!)
George, my CS Taipan is purely for me to drool over.... unless ISIL to do something stupid and decide to wreak havock in this country! It is a ruthless knife and pure business so needless to say it is treated with respect and kept locked away.
It's what I would have carried when I was in the Army, if it had of been availible back then. (As it was, I carried my Kukri and my Gerber Mk II boot knife)
3 best steels for a blade are San mai, seki city and cold steel not in any order
There are newer composite steels but you'll pay through the nose to get them way out of out league
If you can get a rockwell hardness of 58-60 you should have good edge retention
Most of the Natchez bowie I looked at were either San Mai or Cold steel
I got this today a cheapie cheaper survival knife
Was $70 discounted to $42 at Anaconda
Maybe post the bloody pic ay
My cool looking $30 knife had been well used and still going strong and sharp!
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...id=53995&stc=1
Mate got me this for my birthday only $30 got some acid etching or something on it
OK a lot read this thread so show us what you keep in the door pocket/glove box when you go away
Be it a multi tool or knife
Got a multi tool in the door. Also have a leatherman on my belt. That one I posted before in the door. And the survival ill take with me to nissheads just in case a piggy goes me hahaha
or a Winnie lol
Boy were leatherman $$$ when they came onto the market ?
Pic is for Doggy
Cold steel uses a couple of different types of steels, my leatherneck is German 4116 stainless steel, not sure at the blade hardness tho but I'm pretty sure it mentioned at the start of the comparo
Find the clip of him throwing his ninja stars lol carnts farkd haha
I have quite a few of the knives recently posted including the Anaconda versions. 1 of my favourite knives which also lives in the drawers of my troll is 1 of the Anaconda X-Tactical hunting knives which I posted way back when this thread was fairly new.
For those not sure, SanJia and Colombia River are the same, CRKT are different entirely as they are the original Colombia River Knife and Tools brand.
For some cheap blades to suit most people, the SJ and CR knives will more than stand up to the job. Same with MTech and X-Tactical versions.
Personally I haven't bought any new blades for awhile now as I am pouring it into Southern Leather for when my workers comp is finalised but I do have my eye on a few ...... muah!!
As TD mentioned, those buckles are good quality which was a pleasant surprise compared to most that I have seen available over the last few months and with stOOpid price tags.
Working on some wrist cuffs at the moment before I start on the 1st of 3 new belt orders. The Doggy buckle would be good for him on forum meet ups so he doesn't have to say anything and just point to his growling crotch to keep Clunk and Possum in line......bwahahahahahaha.
Haven't started on your Bowie sheath yet TD as I am running some styles through me noggin at the moment for what would look best but I have completed your repairs and also made a new upswept skinner sheath for you and to also show your knife offsider.
Have just ordered a dozen more buckles and heap of other stock like tools, character rivets like skulls and Maltese cross styles and bunch of other stuff, just wish it wouldn't take so long to be delivered lol.
The one piece of equipment I've carried for 20 years is my Gerber multitool. When I was in the army, the three or four blades I carried where my issue Gollock machete and Victorinox folder plus my Kukri and Gerber Mk2 bootknife.
If I'm out in my patrol, then it's usually just the multitool and a combo axe, unless heading away camping/fishing etc...
@OD... those buckles look sick! I'm back on the 29th so will catch up then...
These two are high on my hit list next, every one is different because of the Stag handle.
Just a matter of shopping around for the right price.
I would get a glass cabinet made I think
OD will have the full range ,available through Southern Leather Solutions
I would be changing buckles every day I think.
The "DOGGY" one is for you know who, but the stubbie opener would be handy at camp I suppose
Edit;;; Maybe a nice thick leather belt with the NP.com logo stamped on it I'd buy one, Brown or black
everyone needs a belt IMO
how much do you reckon to get the forum buckle made?
Was thinking more of OD stamping nissanpatrol.com on the belt,
could always ask the question but would you sell 1000.?
Ive asked the question so see what they say
It would probably set me back around $100-200 and possibly more to get the leather stamp made up and shipped here from the US.
If there is enough interest and AB is happy enough to allow me to get it made, then I will order 1.
Your talking fairly big $$$ to get the logo cast for buckles and then a minimum order to go with it, somewhere around 200 mark or more is fairly standard for a custom made buckle.
I should have the 2nd load of buckles delivered by the time your back Gecko.
I was thinking maybe just the Nissan logo would be easier for the buckle .
I thinking a thick hand engraved belt with nissanpatrol.com.au
