Looks like I might get there after all , have the missus lined up to drive over towing the camper ( hope there's room ) should be there before noon and will bring a spare bag of ice .
Went out and visited them all today and was glad I never stayed last night , they had a tornado rip through camp which chewed up pretty much everything that wasn't tied down .
No major injuries thank god but quite a lot of broken equipment.
Was great to meet who was there a great bunch of people who are welcoming and easy to get along with .
We were very lucky that nobody got hurt.
It would be hard for people to appreciate how intense it was but it was absolutely insane.
Would have loved to have a reading on the rainfall and windspeeds but we estimated 50mm within 60 seconds and 200km/h wind speed.
My wife and daughter were inside my camper trailer when it happened and when it started getting out of control both @MudRunnerTD were hanging off one corner of my tent but it lifted us in the air and collapsed the tent, wife inside holding baby and having a panic attack. Bent the main frame of my trailer which will need to either be repaired or replaced.

Awnings flying everywhere, Pearceys was torn off the side of his caravan. MB's oztent rv5 annex ripped the stitching and was torn off.
As we were leaving we look at the rubbish dump point and reckon there were about 30 gazebo frames in the bin.

It all stopped as soon as it started and once we had packed all our gear up we drove into town to get a motel room but nothing available so slept in the car. There was a branch that fell on a car up the road, a branch fell on top of Darren's toilet tent, roofys toilet tent ended up 400m from where it was tied down.
Truly an awful experience, but will make a great story.

I tell ya Winnie, I had my eye on the radar from Thursday and watched that part of Vic get belted and belted and belted. I was hoping it wasn't as bad as it actually turned out. Good to hear no one was hurt, and 'stuff' can be replaced. By contrast we have had mostly still humid conditions down here and tomorrow is going to be worse. Did many stay over today or most head home?
OMG those bins were overflowing and wrecked gazebos tents and chairs were piled around all the bins when I left .
Rossco got there today and there were still a few there but some had gone home .
made it home ...
Most stayed, people with caravans fared okay and except for Pearcey they got their awnings up in time so no damage there.
MudRunnerTD is on his way home cos all his bedding got wet and they had a rough night. He was busy helping me with my camper and didn't realise his was getting a hammering as well.
Would have been so humid today.
The rain went for about 2 or 3 minutes and the wind around 1 minute. The wind was blowing the sand around though and it got in everywhere, we'll be cleaning sand out for years.

No way of getting a message thru but looks like another storm heading for them .
We made it home safe and sound. The cruiser lived up to her reputation and broke again. Just a drive flangethis time, nothing a stubby holder, zip ties and gafa tape couldnt fix. The two gazebos took a beating, but I salvaged ebough parts from both to make one good one. The part that did surprise me was the kings roof top tent did not get damaged at all. I was in it trying to cloes the windows when the storm came through and it was really rocking and rolling on top of the truck.
As all of our sleeping gear got wet the family and I spent an uncomfortable night in the car.
It all make one hell of a storyhttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...018/01/173.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...018/01/174.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...018/01/175.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...018/01/176.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...018/01/177.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...018/01/178.jpg

Looks like a brilliant spot, especially for the kids to paddle around in. Anyone catch any fish? How warm was the water?
Wow what a freak storm!! Glad you got out of there without injury all things considered!
....Otherwise from the photos it looks like a nice place on the river

It is a great spot to camp.
Part of our major issue was that because the sand was so damn coarse and soft none of our tents were pegged down firmly, no design of peg could have got a good purchase in that.
MB took his boat out a couple of times but he had no luck. The water was the perfect refreshing temperate without being too cold.

Hi folks we are all fine just in town now getting supplies.
Shame about that bloody tornado for you folks that had to go home, never seen anything like that in my life.
The skip bins in town are full of folded metal gazebo and tent frames!
Sooo bloody hot!

just finished checking the gear and the tent is bin fodder, gazebo frame cactus
Great to hear nobody was injured from the sounds of how bad things got.
I've just spoken to a work mate who were in Tocumwul , and they copped it good and proper, theyre roof top got absolutely shredded.
Just got home now. Great relaxing weekend bloody shame about the crazy tornado tho. Thought it was you I passed on the highway @Winnie Saturday morning ,spewn i missed you guys and everyone else but lucky I missed it by the sounds of it. Went for a drive Sunday and ended picking up a Ute load of blow up things, tent and other rubbish. Markie did a couple of runs in the tinnie doing similar and saw a couple this morning in a f350 doing the same. Also passed PV with a big rubbish trailer heading in to start the clean up too.
Great spot was sooo nice I the water was so warm. . .

Bugger didn't recognise you. Yeah definitely lucky to come the day after this time.
Have checked over all our stuff and the one pole on the camper trailer had bent and a small camp table broken in half is the only damage we got, plus lost about 20 good tent pegs. Everything else just got covered in sand. Pretty lucky at the end of the day really.
All sand is now cleaned and will look into getting this pole replaced.

Yeah cool not such a bad damage report in the end it sounded pretty hectic. Saw you guys at the north end of the duplication on Goulburn Valley highway, thought that's a nice GQ then saw the camper and thought it was you guys . .

We are home safe and sound now to. Was one hell of a Friday night that's for sure. Never been in wind and rain like that ever before.
Stunning spot although the thick sand shows get to hot after a few days and so bloody hot to walk on during the day. Shade was the problem but afternoon shade was great falling right over @AB and our vans.
I had a great time met some more great members. Bring on the next one.
I will be planning a winter trip for cray season to echuca after this one. Few people showed interest so well see how that pans out.
Thanks all that come great company as always.

That was the icing on the cake to just get bloody home!!!
