Quitting smoking

I was trekking in north Thailand a couple of years ago, hangin with the locals and one night after a heap of warm beer the guides rice farmers mates rocked up smokin this funky lookin thing. It was banana leaf wrapped around home grown tobacco (they said not waky tabaky) so in my drunken state i asked for a drag you know when in Rome.....anyways i took a big puff and stuff me instantly got pins and needles in my face felt like all the blood just feel from my head to my toes, then came the head spin. Thought i might do a massive magrunda but held it together........from now on wen in Rome tellum fuc%um hahahahahahaha I also ate squirrel soup with the head but will save that story for another day

One of the reasons I convinced the boss we could afford a Patrol was because I gave up smoking 7 months ago, bought the Patrol 2 months ago and paying it off now. Every morning when I have my cup of coffee and feel like a cigarette, I go outside, have a look at my Patrol and there is no contest. I stayed on the patches until I felt I could survive without them. I still have a patch in my wallet just in case the urge gets too strong, but I have not caved in yet and don't plan on caving in.
Kat, yes some men do worry about their weight (in my case I have a height problem - I should be about 8 foot for my weight). When I gave up smoking, I started to go for an hours walk every day (and still do). Now I find that if I don't go for my walk I become cranky. Stick to it and plan on what you can use the extra money for.

I am upto 7 months now off the smokes was a pack a day man for 26 yrs....one of the hardest things I have done but very happy to have finally kicked the habit.

I gave up when i read a book by Alan Car (easy way to quit smoking) worked for me. Id smoked for 10 years and tried to stop many times. I'm quite active and at the time of reading i was at the end of a solo bicycle ride in Africa from Cape town to Nairobi. Over 6 months of riding i was smoking and couldn't seem to kick the smokes. I was camping and riding everyday and smoking was my comfort. I heard of this book through a bloke i met along the way. When i got to Nairobi found it and it took me two days to read it and haven't looked back since. I'm quite happy being the only smoker with a group of smokers and not smoking or feeling like id like one. Its GREAT. I'm free of that thing that controlled so much of how i ran my life at the time. I realized most things i did i organised them around smoke breaks. ha - anyway thats my 2 cents on the subject. Highly recommend the book.

I to gave up 16 years ago , i smoked from the ages 15 to 30, a pack a day sometimes into a second pack , i used smoke a lot as i was a sales rep and i would light up between my calls , i changed to rollies as they are harder to have when your driving and this helped cut back consumption ,i then sat a date july 1st 1996 as we were expecting our first kid , when the time came i through out all the lighters all the ashtrays and didn't allow anyone to smoke in the house , started jogging and getting fit ...that was the last time i had a smoke , many have been offered to me at the pub or just hanging around , "just say no "

When I was a young lad, about 30 years ago, I was in the navy. It was then that I took up and gave up smokes.
Only ever smoked about 2 or 3 cigs - when I was out drinking.

My self cure was to do the drawback with 2 cigs at the same time. Boy did that sort me out. lol
I was sick as, and never touched once since. I do not recommend or suggest you try this 'option'
as a cure. Seek professional help.

The adds on TV atm are yukkie. I'm not in the target audience but they make me feel sick.

I'm trying Bob. Really really trying.. Down to about 10 a day. Stress levels are not helping this week !
