What did you buy today

Bought another Quicktifier 420 external rectifier kit for my second alternator. This adds another 12 diodes to the standard alternator and improves efficiency and duty cycle. I have been running one for the last couple of years with great success. Highly recommended.

A new Enerdrive DCDC charger for the LifePo4 battery I have. I've been using a redarc BCDC1225-Lv for the past 5 years, it's done the job ok, but is too slow to charge and doesn't have a lithium profile. The redarc also meant I had to use the shitty changeover relay setup that the older redarc models used for solar.

Good choice I reckon, was looking at them recently. The Redarc BCDC1240 (also with changeover relay setup) is keeping us going ok, but when the day comes that either it karks it, or batteries need replacing (with lithium) then that's what I'll buy too.

Too much now to lie about the cost to her indoors :)

Tropical roof is a great idea Land rover did it years ago,
my first camper I made had a false roof by using my solar panels
cool as inside even in the blazing sun

when the price comes down on lithion batteries Ill buy one as well
but cant see it happening in the near future, $2000 for a battery is
a tad much if you only use it say 6 times a year

@threedogs yes do remember the LR tropical roof. Have done the cork tile roof and side thing and of course very familiar with the internal drips from condensation off metal roof inside sleeping.

Batteries have improved a little over the last 20 or so yrs but lagging well behind for storage in independent pwr sys and remain expensive. Have been off grid now for 30yrs and still use FLA batteries, interesting the first PV modules I bought(1990) and still using some today were Australian made BP275 (75watts) @ $650 each '90.

My fishing trips (high country) usually away 2 night(generally stay put), only demand is Engel 40lt and LED light strip so manage well with deep cycle nom 100Ah Lead Acid battery in eng bay - no PVs.
