Knocked this up for a mate to put in his dmax. Goin' to be mounted in the tub next to his drawers. Will be connected to a 100ah lithium battery.

Still fixing the daughters bloody horse float she bought…
I managed to get new brake assemblies, nothing off the shelf fits this stupid axle so I had to re drill the new backing plates to suit. All new brake lines made up too. New coupling as well and line from that…

Then I had to cut off the busted centre hanger, clean the area up and reinforce and then I tacked in a new hanger for a welder to come out and properly weld it in. My lil’ 135amp Cigweld mig won’t cut it.
I also did the other side too as the hanger was not in good shape.

Next is to rewire the entire trailer.
I’m a pissed off at the people who sold this trailer to my daughter. They told her everything was fine and working.
I get there to pick it up. No lights! And the “oh yeah mate there’s no brakes, just don’t drive like a dickhead”. WTF!
I get it home thinking this trailer is dragging and feels heavier than it is.
Well after seeing this…

Almost done. Sort of…

Upon seeing it in person couldn't you just call the deal off?
Kind of a hard situation. The seller is the partner of my daughter’s friend. She was assured all was good, I was just the person to pick up the float. To be honest it all happened fast, my daughter said she wanted to buy a horse float, then all of a sudden I was asked to go pick it up. Trailer electrical issues I figured there was going to be so I was self prepared to an extent and took tools, crimper, electrical tape and a few other bits.
The brakes was a bit of a surprise but in the moment I was thinking it won’t be much to fix. Wrong there. Every single brake component has been changed out now. I’m including new steel brake tube.
The busted spring hanger, I didn’t spot when I picked the float up. I looked around at the trailer but I didn’t look hard enough obviously. My fault on that I guess.
Just a bit annoyed that her “friends” have taken advantage of her. I said to my daughter that she needs to say something to them, but, I know she won’t. Ah well. Thing we do for our kids…

F#$K me. They towed it in that condition!
@mudski
Being a horse owner mate and transporting them around a bit myself. Seeing the condition of that is a little alarming. There is one more major part of that float I would be thoroughly inspecting and that is the floor structure. Check all steel is in good nick and there is no rot in the timber. The old horses have tiny feet for their weight so ground pressure is high. The last thing you want to happen is for one to go through the floor.
Floats are like builders trailers, no maintenance is usually done until it breaks.
I find it kind of funny it being called a float. I had pictured one of those boat or jet-ski trailers that you dump into the water to unload the vessel. Although that one sinks, not floats...
