But clearly, they are selling it cheaply and making a profit, so clearly not everyone wants to pay top dollar for the expensive top notch kit, people are going for cheaper options and taking a risk on the quality, which often turns out to be good. Australia can't continue with the isolated island attitude, charging excessive prices for local stuff and denying competition from anywhere else. As in the rest of the big wide world, there's competition and companies must adapt to survive. If the high cost of local products is what people want to pay for the quality, then there would be no market for the cheaper stuff, but that's not the case. If local companies want to compete then they'll need to justify their high costs with high quality otherwise customers are going to see right through it. Local companies need to adapt to the market.
