Wow , that bullbar mounting kit looks like fun ! Looks like Ikeas version of mecanno haha
So it's Front Bar time. I chose the Rhino bar. Hoopless and sexy. What is not to like.
I have shot a heap of video and will be doing a warts and all video of the fit up. Let me premise that by saying NEVER AGAIN!. Take My Money!!!! Pay someone. I have PTSD.
I learnt a heap but fitting for $700 somewhere is A Bargain!!!
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...021/10/110.jpg
The instructions were a disgrace. The kit was a train wreck at every turn. Wrong. Wrong and wrong! Did I mention Wrong!
First I had to figure out how to remove the front bumper. Wing it I did!

The kit above was a joke! Half of that lot was wrong and not used. Fortunately I have a good stock of Metric bolts cause this kit was incorrect over and over again. Bloody frustrating I have to say.

I mounted a Runva XP13 at the same time.
A lack of mountings meant I had to harvest the factory mounts. Buying new factory mounts would have been better... or just put a set in the kit right!!!!! It's not like it was cheap!!!

The Rhino bar has integrated Recovery points which is nice.

Cutting and fixing the inner guard was simply not even mentioned in the instructions. Not dealt with at all. I had to Magiver the shit of out that.

Once the pain was over I backed it out of the shed. Seriously, for $700 do yourself a favour! Pay someone.
Stoked with the final product though.

didn't think one could make sexy sexier!
Very nice Darren. Is the fairlead under the number plate?
Thanks mate. Yes the front plate is on a flip up hinge. Not sure I like it but that's the way it is. Looks neat but I wonder what it will do on a deep river crossing. I cam see it flipping up and getting ripped off. I have it as tight as I can and it still functions.
C'Mon Darren, that princess machine isn't going to go swimming! How could you do that? I think the spring holding the plate down will be fine, coupled with the pivot shaft. Looks great i reckon, very tailored and sleek.
So had the 1000km service today. Turns out it's basically a safety check. No oil change. And Free.!!
First oil change is at 10,000kms
Then over the road to ARB to finally have the ARB Base Rack system fitted. I really like this system. We are a LONG Way from the old single piece steel rack. This thing is a well thought out adaptive ans flexible system. Stoked.

Out with the tape measure. Exactly 2.0m from the ground to the top of the rack. Happy days.

Looks great Darren, really top notch.
ARB roof system?
Maybe a copy of the rhino pioneer system.
Either way it looks sweet mate

Nah similar concept but significantly different. The only thing that is similar is they are both a flat rack. There is a fee players in this market now. The ARB Base Rack system is the lightest weight (By A Lot!) And is also the closest fitting to the roof. Impressive bit of kit to be honest.
I was closed minded when I walked into ARB with a smirk thinking this will just be an over priced version of everything else on the market. Once I had a good look at it ans realised how versatile and flexible it was it became a no brainer. SOLD on First sight.
Here is a cross section profile 9f the Base Rack System. The out side dove tail tenon acts as a keyword and there is a full set of accessories available that clamp to the keywords profile.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2021/11/21.jpg
The removable sides clamp to that keyway too. I bought 2 awning mounts that mount to that and I can remove the sides and awning in a couple of minutes. Very kool tech.

Cheers mate, sorry had to remove your screen shot as I have swapped out the photo because the other one still had my bloody address in the pic.
Not sure what was happening with that avatar pic though, not what I see. Thinking there might have been a glitch at your end mate.

Sliders?
Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk
It's Big-O Deluxe Sliders day.
These have been in the shed for a month or so. Time to bolt them up.
The factory steps are bolted to the body and are for standing on, no good at all for protection. I was really keen to fit sliders for this build and considered making some but had a good look at the Big-Os and the mounting system is complex and laser cut. They are made from roll cage tube not pipe and have a "You bend em we replace them" Warranty.
They have a front and rear kicker which looks pretty swisho. Pretty happy with them.

Darren maybe an optical illusion but are the side panels still inboard of the centre section of the sliders? What's the reason for the bulging and contracting shape, looks sexy but..".
The Front bar on it is all i will run mate. It is the Rhino Deluxe bar and is pretty good. No Hoops. I did consider the ARB Summit bar for a long time with Hoops but it is Heavy and the Y62 has a front axle weight limitation. I have seen a photo of a Rhino bar after a roo strike and the guy drove home. He needed some work done but he was not stranded and Insurance will sort out the rest. The axle weight is also the primary reason i went Lithium under the bonnet to give me some breathing space.

Ok so it's been a little busy here but I have found some shed time which is great.
I went a Fatz Fabrications 5" Snorkel as I liked how they finish at the roof line. The kit came well packaged with a colour multi page instructions and a QR Code to a linked installation video which was bloody awesome. Rhino Bar have a lot to learn!!!
The Snorkel is On!
