Well a few Friday arvo beers and the forum stubbie cooler keeping the beers at chilled temp. So a few mods for tomorrow. The original wheel carrie will hold my hight light jack, and will house a rear work light, 2 water carriers. All removable so I can put the spare back when on the touring trips
yep, definitely liking that chop very muchly, top effort there mate......... looks the goods
Stream lined the front grill. Puttied up all the grooves for something different again and meshed up the middle. paint the grill black when I do the rest of the car.

Cheers Yort, Nothing wrong with your beast, see your flexed up on the Famous Stump up at LCMP.... Keep out of that pig pen mate, a quick splash in that play area and your paint will start stripping..
I reckon a nice tube tray on the back would look the goods. Little less room for all the camping gear, but that what roof racks are for...Well thats my theory.
update, all ready for paint....
So Started truck and left idle for a few minutes...then she just cut out, thought no fuel....NUP...... She is not starting, turning over but not kicking in...not happy at all....
hope its something simple, but have done all the basic test and not looking good.... I was going to trailer the truck to scenic rims next weekend for a bash.... really pi$$ed off now... Another hold up i didn't want.....
Spent the weekend on the car cleaning up the wiring and some cases rewiring the truck... Being far from a mechanic I think i manged to find the fault with the truck not starting. Looks like the ignition module has gone so have order a new one.. So here's hopping i'm right...
soon find out....
Then I can move the 4B give it a final sand down and paint the thing.... Unless something else happens and put me back even longer.....
Lookin forward to the finished product mate

This little book in my new mod, That will stay in the truck. This will tell me why the truck decided to stop and wont start. I reckon it's the ignition system. But I'm hopping for a lose wire or a bad earth.
Bottle rum, mutil metre and circuit tester for the weekend. And a wallabies win top it off.
Good stuff cant wait for it to hit the tracks
looking good mate
hope you get it started ....quick
Cheers guys,
well I got the Wallabies and a hangover... Good to be back Redycorp seeing the reds having a blinder for Australia and getting us over the line..... One thing I love more then the outdoor is my Rugby......
As for the 4B,its still not going, I now have a flat battery and a 100 prick holes in hands from the point of the circuit tester slipping off the wire..You would have thought I would have learned the 1st time , i blame the booze still in my system...
Its come down the ignition module at the this stage, so i will get a exchange one tomorrow........
My new ignition module and battery

So I'm behind again
Fun times ahead....lol
hahahahahaha............... Love your work.
Back from the dead.
Put my mechanic skills to work and found the problem to the gq.

Ignition module went, as there really expensive I did a exchange change over for a rebuilt one.
Plug it in. Started the gq and it kicked in. The mighty 3" straight through exhaust opened with a bang. Not knowing my staffy pup was under the car. He shit himself and bolted and jumped for joy it was only a $190 fix.
Great stuff so I guess youll be coming to beerburrum then ay!!!!
As soon as shes on the road let me know I 'm always keen for wheeling
Hi guys. Just wondering why so many people are starting to do ute conversions? You can still only fit in the same amount of stuff right?
G'day mate, the main reason for my conversion is that my Gq got the GQ standard cancer (rust) in the rear sliding windows..... It was when i slide into a tree and opened up he rust....... It was really bad and was a doggy fix. So I chopped the back off.....
I also like the look to mate........
I still will be able to carry as much gear as I do, but less panel damage now and no rust.
Cheers Jay
Plus they look cool.... :)
plans for the weekend is to do some work on the truck, so it will rain all weekend..
no pics, but while looking into the ignition problem I had, cleaned up all the wiring from the conversion.... It was left in a really bad state, the only part i was not happy with.... all nicely tide together fuses in higher places.
I have the paint ready as well, a little bit of prep left and rear back wall to be finished.......then spray the truck, just not looking into tapping everything up....
Wow...
Dr Drift...
NO up dates at the moment that are worth showing, unfortunately sinking my money into house reno's.
But thinking about selling off my 5" lovel heavy duty springs and Superior engineering drop boxes. All in top nick not much driving done on them..
let people know when there ready for sale,, The most work the gear has done is on my you tube link below. Thats nearly 2years ago, month after that comp I started the chop and It's still painfully going on....
Reason for selling as I'm wanting to go lower.
Lower wtf for?
I dont feel the need for that hight anymore, The country I drive and the comps I want to compete in Its to high. Im going to drop it down to 3'' lift with all the fruit which is more than enough. (I hope Im not putting myself out of a sale) and I can still get 35"s under the Gq.
Im going to base my qg on the winch style rigs out there, lower the better and they drive some pretty awesome country. And I was involved in these comp in the early 2000's and things have come along way since then....
cheers Jay
Looking at $500 buddy... Its good gear, Lovells don't make crap spring and there australian steel and made... they are the black powder coated springs not blue.... I dont like having colour under the 4b as I try to keep the police away and black looks standard
Cheers Jay
Mate I have been involved in everything that has been done on my Patrol.... I picked it up for 6k and 6K for the v8 engine gearbox twin thermo fan Radiator with the purpose of being a winch truck. But all that has been thrown out the window with the cost of winches...... it just crazy.... So I've been taking my time (little to long) and going to purpose build if for smaller fun comps and short touring and trail rig....
Plenty of close 4x4 parks around south brisbane, Straddie island only hour from me.Where I can chuck my swag in, engel fridge full of beer and rum and 2 min noodle for and bugger off for the weekend..
My sheet man failed me before christmas, and was hopping to have the back wall welded in and the truck painted...:mad:
So go onto the next mod...
going to turn my double door into one...make a Bracket off the rear door for spare wheel and finish it with a comp style wheel lock nut... This way I can still use the original wheel mount when I go on longer trips.
The wheel will sit right onto the high lift jack and act as the main support.
even though im pulling the pin on the bigger comp I wanted to run in... I still love the look of the winch trucks....
