Well today I stopped in at Georges workshop and his brother Billy fitted up my new extended brake lines as mine really were stretched to their limits and did a brake fluid flush and my brakes have never worked better (Thanks Billy).
I have ordered my new heavy duty lower control arms from Patroldocta and should arrive Monday but while we were poking around under my car we noticed that panhard rods are next thing to get and the sooner the better.
Under full flex the whole lot moves over so much its hitting things it should not.... I have been paranoid about the lower control arms after I broke one at Tallarook and thought what would I have done if I broke one on one of the big trips in the middle on nowhere so had to get them before this trip.. nothing beats getting your car up on a hoist and having a good look around.
You spot things you never would at home with jacks and stands.
Also today when I got home I thought I would repair my air lines for my compressors and was going mad chasing an air leak..... turns out it was the head of the pump was loose and air was pumping straight past the head gasket!!!!!!
A few things to do before this trip and all to do with suspension and related gear..
P.s if you have not check your brake lines under flex and am running stock lines I advise you check them....
Thought I would do an update... I have since last reported front and rear heavy duty panhards and lower control arms and got a heavy duty drag link from Daz..
I am now running a 4 inch lift with 3 inch springs and 1 inch spacers which will be swapped out for straight up 4 inch springs.. Dobinsons.
I also got OME in 4inch and love em!!!
I have played around with my compressor set up a bit lately as one of my compressors was melting any fitting I installed to the surprise of the air specialist.. so now I am running 2 small compressors with the air locker running from that.
My BFG KM2's are starting to get a bit worn so I will sell them while they still hold some value and probably get some Telstar Mud Claws ..?
Playing around also with rewiring a lot of the lights and stuff and cleaning all that stuff up so its not a bunch of spaghetti behind the dash.
I am pretty happy for the most part at the moment but there is always something hey!!
You getting ready for a Tassie trip mate?
Been looking at prices mate... spoke to a client who owns a high end resort at Eagle Peak and he was giving me an idea of cost..
This is what my car looked like when I first got it...

Looks 10x better having the black steel rims compared to the alloys hey. I like your car.
Love the gq but both are awesome
Q is the only awesome one......
Why put 1" spacer in , why not just put a 4" coil,
Might of been better off with 4'' flexi coils,
all good thought BA was going to run spacer, thanks
Does anyone know if you can pull both the engine and gear box out together without taking the front of the car out.. eg:radiator and stuff???
My wife has bought a new car so I have a car to use for a bit and think this is the perfect time to swap out the engine.... a lot to weigh up and need it to go as smooth as possible.
Don't think, just do it.
With a good size engine crane and load adjusting setup I can't see why not. Would be tight but as you unload the front will lift allowing a better drop angle On the gear box..
But you could easily remove radiator to give an extra 60mm as you have to drain anyway and just leave aircon condenser in. Just hang the ac compressor from the spring top hat.
Yeah just tie it to a tree and floor it
Yeah sorry I did not mean radiator but more so the air conditioning as I have had it gassed twice in the last 12 months and dont feel like paying to have it done again.
Can you cut off engine mounts etc and drop motor/box through the bottom ???
That's if you have OXY or Plasma cutter.?
Is it still a rolling shell?
Get the aircon gas evacuated and keep in a bottle.
Machine not that pricey
I thought it was his spare one, would love to make a camper from that
thanks.
That boat sailed a long time ago.............
I am more than likely going to get the engine swapped over at Georges workshop as my wife does not want to leave her new car out the front.
It's funny the car is running perfect but I cant risk it blowing out the chemweld at the worst possible time and having a spare car at the moment is to good to pass up...... oh the pain!!!!!!
Check out Georges new turbo while you're there.... What an effing monster!
Yeah I have seen it ..... that thing is one hell of a sucker and I dont mean as easily fooled!!!!
how did you go with the LPG Gauge mate?
For him to get me one..... bozo!!!!
