Its a mine field out there ,I think the brokers might be the go like Affinity or AJG theres also a good story in 4wd touring
issue 32 it will open your eyes and make you think am I realy insured
Very interesting read there guys am currently with alliance but considering a change to shannons as i have heard they have a lot better policies for 4wders
I just insured my '06 GU IV through bingle who were the cheapest apon comparing through different insurers.
Yeh just insured my through Bingle as well $549 compared to $999 with the NRMA, I'd rather the extra $450 in my pocket than theres
I am through a broker cost 1k includes 3k for camping gear, hire car, windscreen etc etc, but covers you absolutely any where none of this gazetted road crap, as I do a fair bit of camping/4wding on farms/private property most insurance company's will not cover you if there policy mentions gazetted roads etc.
I have been stung by nrma and would not touch them with a ten foot pole.
Cheap insurance is great if it covers how and where you use your vehicle and the mods that you have done its worth reading the fine print.
I am with Shannon's, i have insured other cars with them before and had to make two claims (neither was my fault and hopefully I don't have to make any more claims in the future!), and they were really good to deal with both times. Their premiums are comparable to other quotes I got, and they cover me for the agreed value of my truck and accessories. (Even my fridge since it's fixed in the vehicle).
The cover was explained to me by their rep quite simply. He told me to think of it this way, if I haven't paid to be there, (like a competition), and I am legally allowed to be there (not trespassing etc), then I am covered. Way better than the old gazetted roads only cover I had previously. Just my opinion...
Has any one tried the new mob Pat Callahan is pushing?????.
wanting to feel this out before I went any further!!
you add up the extras you have + Including the labor cost of them being replaced, along with all the other usual questions.
Just did a online quote, (no human interaction) their suggested market value of $26.700 on the 02 td42t with extras came just under $44k.
$101.40 mthly or $1100 yearly, excess $850.
its around the same price shannons want for far less cover & with a much shorter list of extras about $30k , and that includes a multi car discount.
it included hire car to a $ value. recovery gear think $1200 .choice of repairer few other bits I lost link/page some how!,( going by memory lol).
Don't know for sure, due to online as stated above if that covers off rd, but imagine so for gazetted, legally allowed, need to look into it further.
WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS PEOPLES.
What are they called? Sounds really cheap!
Club 4x4 I think
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...ight=insurance
I was thinking cheap but after reading here about infinity and dga!.
not sure I would need to contact them also to confirm.
think I'll also be putting the hard word on Shannons, being over charged for the amount covered, going by what I read on the forum.
I had RAC (WA) for the GU2, when I was ready to get the GU8 I went on line & got their quote, I also rang them as they mentioned continuous cover and was told I just needed to give them the details of the new car & it would all be sorted.
I rang them while I was sitting in the dealers and RAC told me they will not insure a car that is post 2012 without a 4 star crash rating. The dealer arranged Allianz for a bit more than the RAC quote.
so im with elders, they have me covered at $24,000 all up. 99 gu td4.2, paid 24 for it and have added accesories since so its not terrible. full comp is $130 pm $600 excess and as long as its a gazetted road im covered, i also get unlimited free windscreens per year. thats also two drivers listed on green P's
BUT just out of interest i got a quote with club 4x4 last week to see what they charge and they do $18g for the wags and $10g for the accesories plus $2g of personal effects, one free windscreen per year and will cover you anywhere as long as your not breaking any laws. happy to cover me and my partner he is now on full licence as of last week and I'm green P's for another two months. Their fee's are $100pm $600 excess OR $88pm $800 excess.
gee i pay $642 per year for 43k, the good part of being an older responsible driver :)
I pay $560 annually for the car including all accessories. Total value is 60k and I won't budge . Covers me for all gazettet roads including creek the crossings. This is with Coles(west farmers);
….................... On the move
Mind you this is a 2012 car
….................... On the move
I changed insurers this time around, Budget tried to rip me off.
Went with Shannons, $800 for the Maverick, the XR600 and the old 5 series. All for agreed value(which they actually suggested higher on for the bike and the BM than I reckoned they were worth).
Just did my renewal with Coles on my 2005 4.2tdi, premium at $517 is $215 cheaper than AAMI renewal and for $7065 more agreed value or $53,165. Thanks for the pointer. Every other quote I chased was either higher premium or stupidly low agreed value. I'm happy :)
So an update.
This new GU has probably pushed the relationship but the RAA have been great and come threw with the goods..
So car is insured for $26000
Then on top we have
The bull bar
O/h console
Rear draw system and cargo barrier

Uhf
Lift
And the GMV upgrade. . Yep. They said it's fine..
All for a measly $57 a month..
