Spent the day on the old telegraph track yesterday with heaps of crossings and some hairy stuff . No pics on the phone so you'll have to wait.
No damage but threw the alignment out of whack on one of the rocky crossings.
Got that on video...haha. You can see the dog flying through the air in the car tho.
Here's some other teasers

The photo does these correlations no justice but with the tyres right down they are still bone shattering.

they are whopper corrugations! I don't think I've ever seen them so clearly in a pic before.
All we can be is be grateful for well damped coils, and not the trusty but harsh leaves.
Is the best speed, apart from dead slow, still reasonable? In saying that travelling at speed so the body never catches up with what is happening below looks pretty harsh on the suspension, not to mention wheel bearings etc. I watch people attack the speed humps at the local shops with gusto, and think, that's gotta cost, sooner or later. And there is only one of them, not thousands :-)
Thanks for the other pics - what a trip! Great for the Billy Lids, too.
I haven't found a best or comfortable speed for these suckers, they all just jar the vehicle and body. You get over them really quickly and just want to get out of there.
Lucky the Patrol is such a tough vehicle as anything else bar maybe the toyo would fall apart. I suppose that's why you don't see any thing else but these two brands .
On main tracks the most comfortable Speed i found was 110 km/ hr as you're just sitting on top of the corrigations I think but then you have the other obvious dangers, pot holes, dust holes, dips, bumps, wild life, etc

NOW I'm jealous!!
Tap, Tap.......Who's there?
Yeah mate, it was fun but unfortunately being the only vehicle in a lot of cases i had to opt for the chicken track or go around. Mind you there was 50 vehicles drowned this season. One being a Prado which crossed the nolans brook and didn't make it when I pulled up. The crossing looked more than doable just like others including cypress crossing.
So I waited for other vehicles before I crossed just incase. I had the winch but wasn't getting into some of those waters...haha
So with a group of vehicles this would be an awesome drive.

Next time maybe ay!

Isn't it strange how we really want to see some place and when we get there it is not what we thought, drop down some track to a place you have never heard of and can not get enough of it.
What this travel thing is all about.
I reckon I have read this thread from the beginning at least 5 times since it started, man I want to do a trip like that.
One day
