I am liking DGA already just from reading some stuff on there site. I might be able to insure the pigtrol.
Just got a letter from Suncorp today telling me that my Nissan Navara is too great a risk to insure as it has too many accessories fitted and the only way they will continue to insure it is if my excess is doubled. I have sent DGA an email and we will see what they can do. This is after I have had two cars insured with them for more than 10 years. I am calling them tomorrow to remove all policies (including my CTP insurance on both cars) as I can't believe that they would treat customers in this way.
my quote from DGA specifically states in the not so fine print:
"PLEASE NOTE YOUR VEHICLE CAN HAVE ANY MODIFICATION ADDED TO VEHICLE AS LONG AS YOU CAN SUPPLY A ENGINEERS CERTIFICATE."
Hmm i would interpret that to mean if you could, not 'you must'.
But this does suggest that modifications that can't be engineered, are not insured.
100% interested just got a GQ with a 4 inch lift, plans for an aftermarket turbo!!!...... will be watching this thread for sure!! Chers guys!!
very helpful post, thanks
I will also say that I have had insurance through DGA for years, its not my cheapest MV policy, but have never had to claim on it apart from a windscreen (excess free). Is probably on par with my 2011 Subaru Liberty (both about $800).
The modification wording has changed over the years from ANY mod to any legal modification - was in the last couple of years.
Just got a quote from DGA - Offered market value of $21k and added $6k of extras. Windscreen cover and lokcing in my NCB at t eh top level and it only came in at $728.46. Beats the hell out of AAMI's market value of $8k and at the same premium cost, not to mention the additional coverage for off road.
I noted someone asked if tyres were covered and from reading the policy - nope
I have attached a copy of the policy which is underwritten by Allianz for reference if anyone esle is interested.
Have to say, got great service and will be calling AAMI this weekend to say bye!
I was covered by DGA for a good 12 months on both my Patrols for market value plus accessories, they emailed me one day to tell me that my accessories would no longer be covered, I have since found a better policy with TGIS where they will cover market value plus $5000 for accessories, $1000 of personal effects, $2000 worth of spare parts carried. All under the same underwriter (Allianz), Premium is $120 dearer p.a. and excess is the same.
weird, they allowed me $6100 for my accessories (their max allowed limit) on top of the market value of 21k,
Yeah I read that, strange as they would not do anything for me.
