Only downside I really see by it not being compulsory, would be some peeps won't be able to post 20 odd reply welcomes in 3 minutes to get up post counts?

A firm hand shake and look someone in the eye when you meet them is another I run with......some consider it rude to do other wise...

I fixed this very issue this morning with a newB didn't post an intro was posting irrelevant crap. Soooo I stalked him quietly............closing in slowly for the slapping............watching, memorizing his movements, then.......................mid post just before he pressed reply

It is one of the things what makes this place a little different to all the others, and this place seems to get stronger and stronger whereas some of the other forums hardly have any posts in a week

That's a bit different.

If you were just asking someone in the street what the time was you wouldn't reveal information about yourself.

Most people who are asking a genuine (non manually spammers) will start off with a polite hello.

Trust me nothing annoys me more then someone who rudely asks question and expects everyone to jump for them.

If it's not compulsory to post an intro then their not even breaking any rules.

I'm not sure if "welcome" being cut and posted in intro threads would be considered as quality posts.
