Basically I want to compare the pair over a period so that I can then safely, say, yeah the redarc is accurate enough or is talking shit to me.
But sounds like it may be a fair bit of work for Stropp to setup.

You shouldn't really accept that the factory sensor is what will be the most accurate. I had an issue with mine some time back and it was reading consistently too low.
I replaced it and it more closely reflected the thermostat controlled temps.
Yeah i figured both won't be accurate to a degree but I guess between the two I can gauge roughly what the Temps are during different driving conditions and then monitor any changes from there on.

Well we have well and truly sabotaged Stropps thread. My apologies. lol
@ threedogs
My 3L CRD, needle moved every so slightly from under half, to half, and sometime just over half. Numerically this was equivallent from 87 - 91C respectively.
However, my 4.2 once up to running temps, gets to just under half and stays there no matter what ambient temps, how hard I push the car, whether air con is on or not ... It makes no difference, which to me anyway is slightly concerning. Now I don't tow, and do not intend on towing anything more than a 6x4 trailer to the tip, for any forseeable future, but still......
I'd like to see whats happening numerically. Which is why I'd like to compare the pair and go from there.
OOI Ill see if I can use my phone plugged into my ecu-talk as a display only,,, for you Stropp
There back on track sorta
