I knew you would be busy!
My weekends are longer now that I am retired (so called).
Clearing the way for the new shed(few more days yet).
Someone here taught me the Humboldt Notch also Bidjy. Pretty fun if you're further away than the radius arc from anything important and even then a reverse fall is kinda fun if you don't shit yourself! Got nothing on the pro boys who drop close to expensive shit though!!
Edit: Just refreshed myself online and see you're using a conventional notch. Just to clarify my amateurism!
Open face notch but looking at the Humboldt Notch it appears to provide a vertical shear face that would help prevent kick back at cut and read that is more suited for timber that is likely to split more readily. Interesting you mention this must try it out.
The wedges were on hand in case it started to come back (westerly)on to me. The main trunk section was curved and leaning back (W) on me but majority of crown was loaded on the east side (preferred direction of fall). Existing shed on west and concrete tank in south quadrant. Lots of thinking and time passed before taking the saw to it.
Also a N-W wind was gusting of which I capitalised on and success was mine and relief when all worked out I assure you of that.
Bit of a different one for my usual weekend. My faithful server crashed last night. To be fair it's been running 24/7 for the last 12 years with minimal maintenance. Big rebuild today with newer more powerful parts. It's a good reminder why I left though haha

Preparing for my German Shepherd to be born and arrive in about April-May next year.
Bought it from Aussie Dog Kennels in Qld as a flatpack and built it all by myself. lol

Bit less prep time, got a collapsible dog crate from Aussie Pet Doors in Qld. Even I worked out how to build it. lol.
Buy it once, buy it strong, and make it last, is my motto.

Had to fix up my van floor with rot for an upcoming trip. This is the result. Pretty stoked as it suits a family of 4 much better.Attachment 86344Attachment 86345Attachment 86346Attachment 86347Attachment 86348Attachment 86349
