That's what I was thinking, kingpin bearings.. You'd hear wheel bearings like that..

Please by all means those that know more than i do correct me, before you venture on these kinds of trips you should know your car inside and out and have all your maintenance done. This isnt a common problem that happens this is something that would have takin quite some time to develop.

My vehicle is serviced every 5000km and had all new wheel bearings 6 weeks ago. I'm hopeless with mechanics but pay to have it over maintained. Any ever found it's fixed there and then.

Your right about not hearing anything. I hit a wash out (wet season creek) not too fast I think. Then it lunged to the side and I stopped.

Interesting point came out it to do with remote travel and communications though. I got on my sat phone and tried to make a call to the next town along the track and couldn't hear a thing. So I used my HF radio to make a radio call. It worked fine.

I have had difficulty using the Thuraya when it is windy as the wind prevented me from hearing and when I turned away from the wind I lost service.

It's locked in at a bush police station. I got a lift for the last 200km. Then will have to get a charter plane back to Darwin Friday.

Truck left Darwin at sparrows this morning to go get ute. :(

Worked fine so far when I have never "needed" it. You know hi honey what's the footy score etc. Pretty pissed that it didn't yesterday. Was in open. Facing the right way. Even stood on one leg ;)
