The difference is the 0 care factor for the GQ its like wearing your suit to change your engine oil
Come on George.... Apparently you've seen Darrens GQ, so just how tough is it?

The UN peace keepers use GUs.
My GUIV is a Tough Tourer. My GQ is an extreme car and has been set up for that purpose. Short trip stuff. You can't expect to USE it hard core and expect it to then do a 5000km touring trip! Regardless of a GU or GQ it just not fair to the car or the rest of the trip.
If you have a GU setup like my GQ with all the bar work then Play Hard. Mine still has a plastic rear bumper and it took a few hits the other week at Tallarook. Would prefer not to wreck it.
The GU is way more comfortable but is WAY WAY bigger too! And in the bush in the tight stuff it rubs on more stuff.
If you just want the comfort then seriously buy a 200 series! Nice! But not a patrol!
I reckon they both ROCK! They are both Nissan Patrols and both have a TD42T! Life is good
Yeah but yours is set up for a different kind of Hard Ben. Slow Rock Crawling with Treps and reduction gears is difficult, great fun and tough as hell but not really that taxing on the car in real terms. Playing Hard in teh Mud and scrub down this end and in and out of Bog holes and belting the crap out of your car really does take its toll.
In saying that though, one of the guys i did the Madigan Line with was in his GQ and also did the Mud trip with me in his GQ and took its toll. he now says that he has to choose, his car is a Tourer and carries the weight of a Touring car and is not the best setup for flogging into the Otways.
