Geezus mate.... very lucky there was no damage!
Whoops. Lucky there was no damage. After all the effort that you put into this it would be a shame for it to go to waste.
Thanks for sharing. Hope I've picked up something that might stop that happening to me.
Glad all of you are alright and feel for you.
Cheers
Ant
Well done on the rebuild Steve. Can't wait to see it in the flesh.
They say it comes in three Steve, better give me that pretty GU of yours to look after for a while
So car went well during its week on straddie.

These water crossings are often a bit deeper.....although the one at 1min10, tested the seals on the spot lights (haha)

After my water crosings at straddie (vid above) i found moisture in my headlights, ive done deeper crossings and not had a problem before.
After removing the lights to check for leaks, (and finding none) ive come to the conclusion, the front tube bar allows water to hit the radiator support unprotected, and so on a deep crossing, this water is directed straight up behind the headlight, and a small amount of water can enter the breather on the back of each light.

My solution, is to extend the breathers .......

Some pics of my custom cargo barrier, it started life as a Pajero barrier (patrol ones don't have the window/door), i cut it down so i can fold the seats down and put long objects underneath, it also weighs a lot less, and is much easier to remove.

Custom mounts attach to the factory 3rd row seat bolts..

Big thanks to Bigrig (scotty) who welded all the bits together for me, he is a self taught welder, but i tell you, this man can weld like a pro, all the welds are outstanding, and even for a fussy mo-fo like me, the welds required little to no cleaning/sanding afterwards before paint.
:)
Just realised didn't have a pic with spotties on, so here.....
