City of Whittlesea.
One truck left as I pulled up and the other was 500m behind just sitting there. All had 2 people in them.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...022/05/159.jpg

You should see them on the day one is sick. They just park the truck next to the tree for a bit, then drive to the next one:)

I was pissed today that my bike broke down, now I have to buy a new best air cleaner for harley 103, and I had a business meeting that of course I was late for, how infuriating at the most inopportune time :mad::mad:
Haha I nominate this post for most random nonsensical opening post of all time. Not even a dodgy link thrown in. :D
Fresh out of uni, bare minimum English speaking, 20 something year old project managers, coming on-site and telling blokes with 20-40 years of work under their belt what and how to do their job. When told and shown that this or that is not gonna work, they start cracking their diploma as a whip. And yep enormous jobs falling over because their "diploma" mis-calculated by a long shot... Like this morning.
The system has failed.
At least I get a weekend off now :D

I see the Rooftop maps are finally available in digital format. Yay! Then I see you can only use them with Hema software. Booooo!
I guess I'll have to figure out how to convert my paper maps to work with Memory Map one day. There is that scan thread here somewhere. I have pretty much all on Vic on in Topo which is great but Rooftops are great for little bits of info. Apparently it cost $100 per year for Rooftops subscription too. WTF!?
Please do always keep your paper maps onboard Mr Mark Mate, have honestly been let down before with digital formats, I now treat them as a ‘nice to dashboard’ have with underseat real ones + 1.25% focal [emoji23]

Drove up the easy trails of Tallarook and parts of Mt Dissa quickly with my boy today. Warmed up the hubs and low range in a few spots but nothing dramatic worthy of reporting. Fresh mountain forest air and views until next month.
But the rubbish everywhere is unreal!
Mark these words, council, or whatever power management above, putting concrete barriers around every one of these places, is inevitable. It's not your average daily or camper visitor 4x4 weekend warrior variety type rubbish. Fair chunk was your annual tip run type sort of stuff.
Rubble, linen, PC monitors, baby prams, stolen commondoors, burnt cars with police tape everywhere! One of the "low range" tracks there was a full set of Evap air con unit pads thrown to the side...
I drive up these woods 10 or so times a year. I reckon I've seen more shit up there in the last 12 months than I have , in the last 12 years put together...
To the Melbournians wanting to visit these spots, I say do it soon. Writing is on the wall...
That is just the pits. I see grubs hauling trailer loads towards the forest quite often. I have found old bathroom interiors, complete with asbestos backing adhered to the tiles. Its heartbreaking. Councils have to take some responsibility for outrageous tip fees, too.
That, right there.
Not only unfortunately in the bush but also happens on spare blocks throughout suburbia. And yes all to do with council rip off tip rates. Sure, I understand the councils have EPA landfill fees to pay, but this is state government charging local government another way to onforward another tax hit down to the layman. Is there any wonder why people dump shit? I dont, but what I do is cut up my waste whatever it may be into bits that fit in my council bin. Could be an old desk, a shitty mattress etc, it goes into landfill bit by bit through my annual rate-paid bin fees.
F@#king pool fence inspections and inspectors. Absolute joke of a system and only a money making scheme for the council and inspector. Had ours done today. The guys was here maybe five minutes, maybe, cost us $350! WTF?![emoji35]

I’m hearing you Mark Mate, NillumDick Council [emoji23]
Rich lucky neighbour down the road just got pinned on second inspection of his new $100k Lotto pool installation, fences were 1800mm around all external points as originally site inspection demanded.
The rules have changed since apparently, also needs to be 1,800mm surrounds within too [emoji848]
Cannot even leave a bucket near the inside fence in case a toddler decides to climb out of the pool area for safety away [emoji848][emoji848]

Nillumdick! I like that. But this is a grubbernment enforced thing and the council is just taking the Mickey out of us now. We had to pay the council first to register the pool, even though they know it’s there and even gave me the original plans ( had to pay $90)to the house when it was built and the plans and permits for the pool when it was put in were with it.
Yeah the rules we have to abide by are laughable too. But we have no choice so we have to abide and pay. Every four years. It’s more the bill from the inspector that got me for the barely five minutes he was here. I’m seriously in the wrong industry.

@rusty-Nail sorted out our pool protection system, and to be honest its money well spent knowing the barriers are compliant, working and reliable. Better than fronting up to the coroners court because your safety element wasn't working correctly and wasn't fit for what it was there for. Sure, $400 for the 'ticket' might seem excessive, and it probably is, however you can at least be sure you have met the standard required, just now maintain it and the next 4 years will be stress free in that area.
Agreed. 100%. I want it to be safe. My main gripe is the cost for five minutes of work. Paying the council to register for something they already have in their system, absolute rort! And some of the things we had to do to be compliant, even the fence builders were saying its gone too far.
Then you drive through the rural areas, there a place close to me which has a dam maybe 20 metres from the house. Why no fence around that? Or around any dam?
Dams on rural properties are a real mystery. I know that a high proportion of drownings each year with kids are in dams. i dont understand why there isn't some protection apart from the complexity of trying to possibly keep access open to livestock. I know when we put the dam in for Wiseleigh it will be fence. I know when the assessor came around he clipped me on a couple of things and they were then fixed. the biggest one was a window that opened into the pool area. It was not allowed to open more than 80mm - apparently this is the standard for minimum gap that a child can squeeze thru, and its opening into an enclosed alcove as well that the child has to first enter the pool area to access - sounds crazy, very low risk of access, but they are the rules, so now i have a restraining chain on the window to stop it opening beyond 75mm, all compliant, Tick, see you in 4 yrs.
I like to take drugs, not only they give me hypnotherapy effect but the best bit is the hallucinogenic effect which makes me spin right out.
Studies have shown this in fact improves brain function.

Oh yes!!! Now that you mention it mate, I do recall there was a thread or a few posts with scanning / plotting and using or downloading rooftop maps for Ozi explorer or something. I tried some searching without much luck. Anyone else remember?
As per my post here.

Hey Eric, I have been fortunate to inherit a large quantity of old paper maps which will detail a lot of old tracks I'm keen to scan. A1 size I think. Any chance you might be able to help me with some of them to scan? Was going to go into office works to be honest but I'm a little scared at how much that might cost? If not that's all good mate, just trying my luck.
Sweating on the arrival of some parts, two identical Express airbags sent together from same place, both tracking together, one arrived on time to home, the other was sent to Adelaide SA - bugger me Aust Post.
Heyaa Daz !!
Sorry for delayed response. Only just saw your post.
Would've done it no questions asked for ya mate. But not good news for either one of us ...
