One of my lesser known hobbies.. mate and myself started the day launching a Murrays Beach (a bloody disgrace of NSW/ACT planning) at 0800.. bagged out by 1030 and helped another boat with .... flatties, 40-62cm.. Not King'ies but the are starting to show up as water is warming.
Parked up here at Lake ratzcastle with the rod and net in.
Pulled 2 150mm bodied yabbies this morning

And had a good 250-300mm yellow belly snap my line yesterday.
Of course as always last night here and the weather is turning bad
Here is the lake
Spent the day out at western port only 1 pinkie. Still a great day to be out.
Passed a boat yesterday heading for Altona, Have always admired the witty names on some boats like "Piston broke" and "Y Knot"
Any way this boat was called "Holy Cheeses" I thought that was very clever, tough looking boat too

Found this better than a gimal belt
My mate Miki, has been working in Kunnunurra for a little while now and one of his new friend took him on a fishing trip.
They ended up driving all night and ended up fishing at Laccrosse island.
@ Mego if your are after a custom rod give SG1 a pm.
He may even repair your favourite rod not sure
but anything fishing rod related he would be your go to man
I just brought his roof rack, modifying it on another thread
Hi Mego, will put a couple of pics of my recent builds, tho prob not for everyone as one was for lady who wanted pink and a bit of bling, we have a Face book page @ https://www.facebook.com/evolvefishing.com.au and encourage anyone who is interested to like the page as there will be more and more builds coming in the future with a couple of really nice ones coming up.
I am relative new to building custom fishing rods, was a fishing guide for more than 7 years up north based out of Cairns working throughout FNQ and Cape York and have spent the last year learning as much about the craft as I can, reading everything I come across and talking to people in the industry, for me its something to keep me occupied since making the move down south to be with family, if you or anyone is after a custom rod by all means get in touch and we can have a chat about it.
Cheers
Scott.
A couple of builds,

And a little 2-6lb built on a Matrix blank, this will have Fuji K SiC micro guides and is still a work in progress, will be built for performance and comfort rather than looks and bling and will be my new one for up in the mountains chasing trout in the small streams and rivers.

Got a couple of really good ones coming up including a custom cork grip, still restoring an old old surf rod, hoping to bring it back to original condition if I can source the guides and reel seat, work in progress..
Iil get the boss to do your face ache page well done scott
Are you crazy Scott most ppl move to FNQ not away from there.
Might want to PM AB about becoming a Vendor on this Forum there are strict rules in place
Haha yeah I do miss it, but she was worth the move ;)
Will look into the Vendor thing,
Cheers.
Two casts, two squid both well over 1kg each. Apollo Bay harbour.
We won't mention the next 30 casts that produced zilch.
Got some new gear to try up the Murray this weekend.
might and I say it lightly might even try some surface poppers near some snags at night.
they tell me the strike is mind blowing and explosive yeah right
can only try I suppose , we'll see,
Haven't used lures since fishing the channels up Yarrawonga years ago.
@ Mego you might miss my mate who caught a wallet with $200
in it at the Yarrawonga caravan park just at the spillway, true story
We were sitting side by side he had a huge strike reached for his rod to set the hook
and yeah reeled in the wallet,
The black one, pic posted by mego is the go, they also make the non jointed one in black to if the fish are a bit shy, if there is a good moon with light then they can work a treat.
Mind you at that time of night some ppl might no be capable of casting a line LOL
All up we got 12 cod over the weekend but only only size. 61cm. All the rest. Between 40-50cm.
My mate when biggest carp at 78cm.
Biggest cod was 104cm
And biggest yellow belly was 57cm.
My nephew Jacob with a whopping 84cm carp weighing 7 kg.
this would have won longest carp in the recent Cod Classic.
Nice size, just a shame its a carp lol
My youngest is down Lakes Etrance for the new year and has been out fishing this morning.
Landed a very nice 40.5cm black bream,
We also had this guy terrorising our camp at night. We didn't know who it was until the 6th or 7th night.
MMMMMmmmmmm Possum lol
just heard a guy drowned in Lake Mulwala not good
Also on morning TV the record holder for the largest carp caught was on,
the fish was just under a metre long and weighed in at 20 kg.
A lot of fish in anyones book
Did it look like this. Lol
Put the pots out last night , 1 muddy , hope the buggers that checked the others enjoy the crabs , bloody share farmers !
I've lived in Darwin been to the Cape ,grew up in Mackay and still have not tried mud crab.
It is the number one thing on my to eat list, envious you bet ya.
