Been thinking about a Sandy SeaChange Northern retirement in years to come, possibly downsizing to a 6.2L when these Magnificent Mexican Twactor cold mountains start wreaking havoc on my joints [emoji23]

roof done, this is definitely a young persons game......

Ok, the drivers has been done, just need to fit carpets.
Stage one deadener, heat shielding, stage two underlay, now off to the passenger side.
Did I say this is a young mans gig.....

All right, passenger side done.
At SWIMBO's request, I will get new carpets. So none installed in the pics.
That just leaves the doors to do which will be an easy job.
One thing for sure, if you are near your GVM, the Mass Noise Liner ( the black stuff) will put you over.....
Put the thermal barrier along the whole passenger side as the exhaust runs under there.
Glad to get it done before works starts Monday.
Seats are back in and time to start her up.
Does work though, you can certainly hear that big boy under the hood, but just a little quieter now, will make touring that much nicer.

Question guys:
how long is your throttle return spring?
I'm having issues trying to get a reasonable feel on the pedal, it is currently way too strong, and I suspect that the geometry is all wrong.
this is the setup I have,
If I know what the original length is, it gives me a starting point...

Post #57 of my build shows the spring fitted and the same mount bracket - photo is off @MB motor. Brunswick can supply you with the spring and the bracket for sure. I sourced these from them - as usual they sent two variants, a single and a double coil version. Both are dimensionally the same, spring rate just doubles. OD of coil is 15mm, wire dia 1mm 14 active coils on the single. double has 14 active coils also, wire dia 0.75mm, inside of coil ends is 60mm approx overall. I run the double coil version, but carry both as spares.Attachment 84427
Here is a pic showing the bracket and the pump with the spring set-up, taken when the heads were off recently.Attachment 84428
Accelerator cable to the connection with the gold coloured clip, and bracket configured for accelerator cable and cruise control cable, since deleted. Just noticed my spring in use is the single wire version
If you want the installed dimensions of the spring, let me know and I will put a ruler over it
that would actually be great
No worries, you are welcome.
Hi guys,
I have joined the 6.5 Chevy team.
Brunswick Diesel install and I have had it back only a couple of weeks.
Still working towards the 2500k for the check in service.
Not that much thirstier than my 2002 3.0 Di.
I have 133 pages to retro read now...

Very nice installation, I hope you don't end up with a pile of bee-stings like I did!
time for an update, albeit a small one.
finally got the accelerator spring sorted.
I have been told that the Bullet linkage is rubbish (looking at you Pee Bee). but it has in fact turned out to be perfect.
The supplied accelerator spring and bracket is less than ideal, so I got my hands onto a "standard bracket and spring" (thanks Dewars), and blow me down, this has turned out to be perfect as well.
Now that is done, I will do a more optimised bracket to satisfy my inner engineer.....
Now to things 6L90 related:
It has taken Zero Gravity (suppliers of the Gateway Module and software) basically 10 months to realise that the software and calibration supplied was for the wrong transmission (4L80)
Now that little faux par is behind them, guess what? the gateway now talks to the 6L90, and even better yet, reads the CAN and engine sensors!!!!
So now the trans has been flashed with the correct CAL, and talking to the gateway, I can finally make some progress on the programming.
All the mechanical side of things has been perfect, even the starter motor issues have resolved themselves.
While this has taken a while, with COVID and other dramas, I have been learning how this shit works, mind you, I didn't want to at the start.
I've got the Trans calibrator at work onside to do the programming ( he was lead calibrator on the 6Lxx program in the States), so at least I have access to someone who knows what they are doing....
Next post will be huge, you'll see.....
that is all
Well so glad you are now living in a perfect world. And yes the Bullet linkage will remain crap in my eyes moving forward, but glad your perfect solution has transpired. So funny how you have two completely perfect items and still see the need to make them better - what next AI?
Got this done just in time for the new year.
The hood sound insulation from Carbuilders
Went surprisingly well all things considered.

Hi guys,
Time for an update.
I have finalised the TPS and throttle return spring bracket, including the connection to the injector pump shaft (thanks Pee Bee).
Got it right on the third attempt.
Attachment 87858
Did have an issue with the hydroboost at the same time, the knuckleheads that installed it, plumbed it incorrectly.
When the engine was running, the brakes were always on, but turn the engine off, the brakes were off.
Marks 4WD were very helpful in advising me what to do, good customer support right there.
The area of focus lately has been the operation of the trans itself.
Good news, is that after the dramas of the TPS and the gateway module, all is working as it should.
Currently creating the shift schedule and road testing to see how it goes.
The trans is shifting well, now just refining the shift points, no flaring on the shifts at all, and down changing well.
Once the shift schedule is to my liking, I'll work on the tap up tap down of the shifter.
All in all, I'm happy now that I'm in this phase of the trans swap.
There was a time when I thought the trans would flare the changes, but this has not been the case.
Now that things have started to get sorted I'll post more often.
Good job , glad to hear some progress. When is it going to be on the road as such?
I have got an electrical guy on the hook to tidy up the wiring, and by that time the trans should be done and dusted.
So a few more weeks me thinks.
Attachment 87859
an update to the transmission side of things.
The calibration seems to be working well, I'd say it's at 80%
6th gear hooks up now, and I just need to get it to hang on a bit better,
All in all, very driveable, will get the tech crew to fine tune the cal at work, will work on the 4wd mode next, then it's TUTD time!
another update, truck has been delivered to have the wiring sorted, woohoo!
Attachment 87903
It's been a while, so here is what has been happening.
As part of the electrical wiring clean up, the instrument cluster will be refreshed
I'll be replacing the instrument cluster with an AiM cluster, so that I will be able to monitor multiple sensors without having the dash full of gauges.
The dash will also display transmission gear and drive mode position.
3D racing solutions did the dash insert after I had sent them a sample cluster to model, they did not do Patrol GUs up until this point.
The guy doing the wiring is an ex motorsport electrician, and is very familiar with AiM products.
Looking forward to getting the truck back.
More to come....

Very nice Ralph.
Absolutely excellent Poindexter! Keen to see how this comes out.
I wanna see it doing 234kmh!
Dash looks bloody nice!
