Both fish will be eaten and enjoyed by many.
What a horse that 2nd one is is that a record ? both awesome fish
Just re-spooled with heavier braid bugger this light tackle fishing .
want a 50lb fish use 100lb line LOL skull drag the lips in oh yeah
Why fight it for 5 mins and let it build up Lactic acid, and taste like poo poo lol
My sentiments exactly TD
I have just recently swapped to 20lb braid on all of my reels.
300 mtrs of Dyneema is only $12 or so
every one should be re-spooling.
great cast quality as well ,,,,20lb braid is only .2 of a mm
that's ridiculas
I assume your shit stirring about the 100 braid.
As it wouldn't cast very well unless on a huge spool. 100lb braid on a small reel/spool would actually decrease your casting distance.
As for your $12 dyneema, it's cheap for reason.
I'm just saying.
Always choose a braid that is near round and not flat, as this cause issues and strain on the line, reel and spool.
@ mego how long was that big carp.
Never had a problem with the dyneema.
its only $12 cause I'm not buying bulk , I don't need to
only enough to do two 4000 series reels,
Id only spool 100lb braid if I was going to Cape York
and up size everything rods etc been spooled too many times with light gear

Are the snapper on yet Mick?
#Mego 900mm carp wow never knew they went that big, would have pulled Bob into the drink.lol
Bob fishes with the drag locked up, gotta say it works, Bob's 680mm crp was 3.46KG at
current market prices that's $20.72. Carp=$5.99 a kilo, not my cup of tea but each to their own I say
Your mates carp was worth $71.88
who buys carp?
A lot of ppl still eat carp its sold at the Vic market in Melbourne, most fish mongers will stock it.
Nah couldn't do it myself . even if cooked so it tastes like a garlic clove.
I haven't been out this year, they were last years early fish.
Two mates went out this weekend, near P2 marker, one boat got 1, one boat got 5, for all days work. Had to keep sounding for more than a hour before dropping anchor.
I'll try to find my little black book of fishing marks, but these are just marks, you still need to sound around to find them. They have a very distinctive arch on the sounder.
My mate Zoran went out today, again around the P2 marker and got these this morning.
Edit: boated 4, dropped another 5
9 fish total.
About 200-300 metres off the marker, didn't say which direction though.
Sounding around until you find fish.
Berley, berley. Berley. And keep cubing out pillies

A weird/interesting read.
My mate went out for snapper early this morning in the same vicinity of P2 and didn't even turn a reel.
Caught off Rickets Point this morning in their big 7mtr boat 5 blokes.
Lucky buggers.
Today at work, I found out they had a ball with pinkies to 2kg at Black Rock yesterday.
Bagging out in the first hour and just having fun for the rest of the morning
Does any one know what type of fish this is? I have looked in a few books, but can't seem to find it. Maybe it's a juvenile.

Good news for us here , seems Mr Naphthine wants to ban commercial fishing in the bay altogether.
Can only be a good thing I hope, not sure how it will affect the Mussell leases yet
