Well, driving along this morning I noticed a slight knock in the steering when turning right. I didn't think too much of it other than to 'have a look later' to check bushes and the like. Suffice to say I came home and went back out again without checking anything and whilst driving down Redland Bay Road at about 80klms per hour, I notice the balance feels more out than it had previously (had a slight wobble post the LCMP trip and figured I needed a balance). Get to a set of lights and turn right and "clunk" - a large knock that I feel right through the steering. Pulled over to suss it out and low and behold, my steering damper is p!ssing oil and the bushes on both ends are split badly - the top one so much so that it had peeled open and was just hanging there allowing the damper to move an inch or so either way. Strange thing is, when I got back home, there is no oil on the driveway, so it literally let go whilst driving!!
Dropped into Redlands 4WD (was literally around the corner) and picked up a new Ironman foam cell damper and just fitted it - all hunky dorey - no wobble (so must have been on the way out and don't need a balance) and no more knocks.
Moral to the story - if there is knocking coming from your suspension and/or steering in the front end, then it ain't right and should be looked at thoroughly before it goes to poo on the road.
Trust me, he has nothing to fear!! lmfao!!
As I always say, nothing I can't fix with a hammer and 8kgs of sikaflex!! LOL
Yes sir - have a bag of them ... just can't figure out which end you are supposed to screw in though ... lmfao!!!
