82 year old mother drove the 70+ km round trip to the local supermarket. shop had been cleaned out. shop full of non locals and car park with 2 busses in it.
that's a real "I don't give a ship about anyone else as long as i get what I want, fingers up to you" ...
I’m still here folks, I’m so sorry I haven’t been as active as I should be but as some of you know it’s been a very rough road for a many of years!
Good news is there is light and it’s coming and I’m looking forward to more meets and more active here :)
Not long to go!

Despite the 'WATERPROOF' marking, these breakers are definitely NOT waterproof - at best they are splash-proof.
Attachment 80703
I had mine fail recently. I dismantled it by drilling out the 4 rivets and the inside was badly effected by moisture and the contacts were all gunked up. I cleaned it up and got it working well again - at least until I fit a replacement.
There is a rubber membrane which almost seals the workings but the problem is the shaft of the little lever passes through this membrane, hence the leak as the seal is very poor.
Mine was claimed to be IP67 which is safe up to 1m depth. It was never immersed, just splashed or sprayed a little. Might look at making a little cover for the new one as mine is mounted flat.
Hmm. Good to know.
I have the same one that I was going to replace with the 150 amp one, but thinking about it mine is on the back of the fridge cage. If that was to get wet I would be in serious trouble.

Too bad we can't wipe our freckles with chocolate...
Haha Attachment 80704Chocolate freckle ?
Thanks guys for improving my day.
Can't claim credit for it Bob.
True story, was told that joke by a "Clown Doctor" at Royal Children's Hospital 3 weeks ago during a work contract there. In a kid's ward, he's dressed in big shoes, funny outfit and wig and big red nose. Standing there talking with the ward clerk he and his comedy assistant nurse walked by and told us that joke. I actually cracked up. She rolled her eyes.
Couldn't make this shit up.
That is one bloody amazing hospital for kids.
You need to be very careful using such a high current breaker. Even with a run of reasonably heavy cable it may not be possible to draw 150 Amps even into a short circuit. It only needs a total loop resistance of 0.08 Ohms (at 12 Volts) or greater and it will never trip. And your cable must be capable of carrying over 150 Amps (25mm2 or better).
Breakers and fuses need to be kept as low as possible if you expect them to provide any real protection.
not angry, but day one of working from home. this is going to be a very very long unexciting time.
I have been in self isolation as I made the mistake of going to Melbourne and getting some virus.
Got tested today so if it comes back neg I might be able to go to work.
Good thing they have closed the borders to keep those infected people from eastern states out of SA
Hey, Tony who the hell did you hang out with. Didn`t do a meet up with a couple of blokes up C Hills way. Just asking.
No, didn't get to see the dodgy brothers.
Probably not the best idea, but I checked my super. Down 23% in about a month, gone back to my 2017 value. Plus side is I've got 20+ years to make it back. Great.

Yep, we're all in the same boat. I may have to add a few more years to my retirement date.
Covid - 19 impacts.
Flight costs have increased by 6K over 6 rosters. Schedule for flights is really restricted. One flight a day out of Townsville to Brisbane. Noticed one of the Melb- Brisbane legs has been scheduled on a monster plane as well, so so much for social distancing!
The site is at level 3 restrictions and everyone is now on an 8/6 roster, or one that matches that - unfortunately this means I am now on a 14/14 roster, but due to the nature of the work, will be working from home in the first week of the home period.
The change in roster completely smashes Licola for me this year; however I guess its probably up in the air anyway - who knows? I am going to see if I can make a change however if this situation drags on, to get to Licola would cost me a months work based on the roster matching - not going to happen unfortunately.
Edit - Virgin have already changed 2 of the flights I booked yesterday, so things are very fluid at the moment it seems. Now its going to take 14 hrs to get home from site instead of 5.
Its tough up here right now, refrig container for one of my projects just died, 200k of temp sensitive rubber at risk if it gets over 15degC for 3 hrs - been at 15 deg C for 2 and refrig compressor has crapped out. Scrambling to find somewhere to put 12 pallets of material. Guys being forced into shared bathroom accom, some on the same shifts, Covid 19 hygiene standards not being met, guys talking about walking - funny enough, 'to where' as we are in 'nowhere' out here, but its a real problem
Hi all, been fairly quiet on here for awhile as we’ve had a shithouse six months, Worked away in New South Wales for the winter then came home for the start of the hardwood season and it rained solid for five weeks and we only worked couple of days so I went back to New South Wales for a month then came back at the start of December, worked the first week then the following Monday morning the engine shit itself and had to put a brand new crate motor in , we got it going in 3 days then Vicforest shuts down for 2 weeks over Christmas but I had a private logging job to do so worked right through Christmas, New Years etc to get some money in the bank , then the f@%n fires hit & we were out of the bush for 7 weeks , Went doing other work - interstate etc to fill the time in but only just got paid for it now , started back in the bush at start of February but as Vicforest is 30days from the end of the month we don’t get paid till 1st April so 3 months with pretty much no pay has been less than ideal . Anyway that was a long winded explanation on my hiatus from here for a while I guess ,
I just got told that there is a heap of people camped up at Wonnangatta to escape the virus, however ALLEGEDLY they have been getting robbed at knife point for their supplies , A bloke who is friends with the local Coppers told me that & they have to go up and sort it out, if that is true and correct humanity has reached an all-time low but after seeing the shit fights going on in supermarkets over toilet paper, nothing would surprise me
Hope the lean times are behind you, mate. So far, down this way, everyone is pretty calm about it all, except that bog rolls in the markets are harder to come by than unicorns.
The COVID-19 message has been flogged to death on site, so what does one of my contractors do, he waits 3 days before reporting to the medical clinic saying he is feeling nausous and now he is in isolation in camp, awaiting outcome of tests. Rule 1 if ill stay in room, rule 2, if ill, notify immediately, stay in your room, rule 3 if in a particular 'at risk group - aboriginal, take extra care, refer to 1 and 2 - WTF is wrong with people. Heading back to camp now to wake a guy up on night shift and move him out of his room as these guys share a bathroom. I guess you cant put brains in statues.
Covid -19 strikes again. Specialist Rubber Contractors have been ordered to leave the country by the Polish Government on a charter flight in 2 days. The job will have to be 'suspended'. I have to tell 40 guys they don't have a job tomorrow - not going to be a walk in the park by any imagination.
This COVID 19 (Coronavirus) has affected us all in one way or another.
In my case, tomorrow morning I join the Centrelink telephone queue as I'm no longer able to work as a driving school instructor, due to social distancing.
To add to my challenge of being temporarily unemployed, my regular 5 year colonoscopy I had in a bush hospital, requires follow up surgery in a city hospital. I got told surgery will be in 2 weeks time - as at last week, so I'm just waiting on a phone call with a date. It's not a major issue, but it needs sorting sooner rather than later. Like I've said to a lot of people, if it was really urgent, they would have flown me out by Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
I can't afford to be angry and have to stay focused and as healthy as I can as I await surgery.
What I am angry about is people not playing by the rules. The longer people rebel against authority by not doing what they're told, the longer this thing will drag out, and the more it will spread.
It doesn't matter if you agree with the rules or not, you must, not should, obey them.
I don't live in or with fear, anxiety, stress or worry. Of course I'm concerned, that's why I'm playing by the rules.
Take care out there and stay safe.
One of my daughters joins the unemployment queue next week, she was working 3 jobs, a swimming centre 2 days a week, a clinical lab with any shifts she could get and at Kmart with any shifts she could get, all have dried up.
She is also studying and has said she will now be able to finish her studying faster, I love her attitude.
What scares her is going into centrelink, she has never been in there before.
Unfortunately this has severely affected a lot of my family and their partners. One totally stood down, another on four days a week and that dries up in the very near future. Some of the others are just waiting for the inevitable, tough when they all have mortgages.
We’ve been in total isolation for over two weeks now, only outing has been to the specialist.
Sure am missing the grandkids, FaceTime just isn’t the same as a real hug. We used to babysit one a couple of days a week and loved it, also regularly picked up another one from primary school.
They are struggling to understand this and it’s pissing me off that people don’t get the message. To kill this we need a total isolation and it should have started weeks ago.
The way it’s going we’ll be isolated for six months. We now have groceries delivered and in the process of getting prescriptions delivered as well. Just need to setup Telehealth if possible, anything else we need the kids will drop off. My superannuation is also taking a severe hammering and at my age that’s an issue.
On a positive note, I’m getting all those little jobs done around the house. Just hope the arse doesn’t fall out of the realestate market.
This is whats going to be the downfall of all of us. Stubborn humanity!
My job takes me all over the place daily, and i get to see lots. And even today, I am seeing a lot of "business as usual" scenes, everywhere. Playgrounds are full. I have driven past 3, yes , 3!!! Which were packed with families, kids.Right next to my house, there was 15-20 blokes having a casual cricket match on the oval. My own court where i live, large family gatherings for birthdays, etc have been happening. Saturday got a call out to a house, where they had a jumping castle being prepared for a large kids party...
And here I am, stressing about stopping at shops after work to take bread and milk back home to the family, without catching this chinese c*** of a thing. Makes me mad!
