The below is a copied post from another forum
It is funny because damascus steel originated over that way in the early 500 - 1000 and the viking sword +ulfberh+t was made of high carbon steel 1000 years ahead of anything else and rumour has it that the indians traded this steel (crucible steel) on the vulgar trade route from 800-1000 ad and the indians at that time were making swords using high quality damascus that they some how managed to imbed nano tubes in the steel which science has only just discovered and no one can replicate it to my knowledge. Anyhow its ironic that the beat damascus was made over there and now the poor grade is made over there. A lot has changed in 1000 years haha!
Great post, yeah the stuff we see is not "TRUE" Damascus as the recipe was lost years ago
Which Indians not the red indian surely its birth place is Damascus , a long way from North
America
Its from india not the "Indians"

getting some info for me about their Bowie blanks.
trying to find out if they have sheaths available.
Don't think my 80's bowie will arrive today, maybe
the camo job.
edit;; just checked Queens web site nice knives eh
Whole Earth I have used before, they get some good gear so does ECop.
Some pics
very nice I saw those aged amber stag on the web site, nice display cases too
EDIT:: just looking at the blade its not under cut, that would sharpen up a beauty
Yeah vindaloo ones not the pow wow ones LOL
@ growler why don't you drill and tap the tang on your Bowie knife, grab a bag of redgum firewood from Bunnings.
From all the pieces of wood look for one with a dense wavey grain, cut to suit your tang, sand then buff should come out like pic
@ OD looked up some limited edition buck 110 folders boy are they pricey, some thing for the Kids hopefully
