I was at the Shell servo when a big Dark blue tuff looking and sounding GU patrol powers in to the servo, jumps out see my car and gives me a big forum wave. I'm not sure who it was, but it has to be a member.
I see quite a bit on the Facebook GQ page about trucks getting stolen. Someone lost two last week one was a non runner. Both were found stripped and one was burnt out. There is some discussion that folks are posting too much revealing info about themselves and their vehicles as there might well be FB lurkers as there could be here scoping out what us around. My point being be considerate to the vehicle Owners who may have no interest in having information about themselves splattered all over the Internet when posting especially when you say this patrol is always here etc,
The info is only valid if someone says 'yep, that's me'
I can sit on the highway and take pics of any car I want, numberplate included. The info is meaningless if no one puts their hand up and identifies themselves.
Taking photos in front of a house could be a bit of an issue if it is that person's home.
I see the rego plate being an issue with insurance companies and rego authorities. For example if I have an egr block, big lift etc and my pic with numberplate here. They can then target me and send a letter to instruct me to go across the pits.
What can anyone else do with that info? Well in the NT (and probably other states that have done away with a rego label) anyone can download the smart phone app and check when the rego is due.
