Ok I'm gonna need some more TD42 info.
I'm set on a GU factory turbo (or mayyybe an imaculate conversion).
Firstly, I've read that around 2003 they had a small upgrade including electronic controlled injector pumps. Is it worth short listing to only have post 2003 or is any GU blacktop turbo fine?
Secondly, where do the non intercooled models fit in? Did they come out parallel to the intercooled models? How big is the difference? Is factory intercooled better or can ya bang a cooler on a non cooled version with success and no issues?

The first one is in south Oz and is a td conversion, the second one is in Victoria

I'm still a little confused on blacktop/silvertop.
Am I correct here:
All GU should have a blacktop from factory?
When I see a GU with a turbo silver top it must be a conversion?
A GU with a turbo black top may have been NA from factory? And if so, and the work is quality, is there anything to worry about compared to a factory turbo blacktop?

Yes. Silvertop means early GQ.

Yes, it could have been NA, specially if the turbo is an aftermarket one.
I would always go factory. Add-ons I only trust the ones I added myself... If it was done by a big mate of yours and you trust his word on it, then sure, but other then that, how would you know?
Bear in mind that it is very very easy to swap a rocker cover over for looks.
My GQ has a factory turbo TD42Ti engine which should have a black cover, but I swapped it for my old silver cover for aesthetics.

Agreed, Winnstar [emoji2956] Word to wise, naturally aspirated OEM GQ TD42 Faithfuls from factory IMHO should be cared for and driven a lot less harder than I’ve/we’ve done [emoji51]
