i put this up not as a brag but as a what you can look forward to once you have won, something to look forward to .
i hope it helps.
i put my smoke money in the safe every day since i gave up, and still do.
i think 16 years now .
you find you`ll get quite a sum stored after a while, not kidding.
its paid for trips over sea`s trips up north fishing
and two days ago i bought another boat, ..........all with what i call my fag money.
and have done all this without touching any other money apart from whats in the safe.
much better to spend the money on me than a fag company
and apart from that i feed good in the lungs and in the head
have a think about it it might help thats why i have put this up here
keep going guys you`ll WIN
Top job mate - I'm working on it, but focussing on the weight loss first ... you'd be spot on for the money saved, me and the missus both smoke and estimate we go through about $150 per week - that's $7800 per year!!!!! Gotta get off them for health I know, but that money is a bloody good incentive as you say!!
Go Kat and the Tigers winning will more than offset the craving for a Fag. Keep it up
Thx pauli and Bob. Alot of it just getting out of habits. You know, lighting up when I get in car, or with coffee.
The coffee is the killer for me as well - I know they say the first is the worst (meaning the first one of the day is the worst one as you don't stop after that), but I genuinely love getting up early when the kids are all asleep etc and having a coffee and a smoke ... again, habit that needs to change ...
forgive me father, for I have sinned.....
but, I have an appointment with the hypno-dude next week..
So how much is the hypnocrap. I have tried many times. Hate the fff things. Mind you I had just about given up using Champix late last year then Ed Qld sent me to the corporate world and well totally f@#$%^ the giving up idea.
As long as u wanna give up its all in the mind ya know it cost me $150 5yrs ago an i never touched em again!!!!!!! Got a dude who specialised in smokin
I give it up for about 18 months 13 years ago and then went back on them due to not being able to cope with stuff happening in my personal life....still on them.
Just treat it as a slight set back Kat, it is not easy but if you have your gotten your mind around it that you want to give up.... you are nearly there..
Yes stress can get you back on them very easy but just take a step back and think about the stress, ask yourself is the stress worth going back on those things...the answer you will find is NO
Hey all,
Before I start, this is for encouragement only - I'm not trying to scare anyone . . . . .
Some of you may know that I recently had to travel back to England. Long story short, my step-mum has very advanced small-cell lung cancer. This type is very aggressive, and therefore the survival rate is very low. A high percentage of cases are caused by smoking, and she has smoked from being young.
She turned 51 in April, just a month after she was diagnosed, and told that she had just 2 months without chemotherapy or 9 months with chemo. She agreed to the chemo and it started straight away, however after 4 sessions the tests showed that it was not successful, so they stopped it, and began the palliative care to make her comfortable.
She is now at home, she has good days and bad days, but still trying to fight it (she's Scottish so won't go down without a fight). She spends 20-22 hours a day on oxygen. She's on ever increasing doses of numerous drugs including morphine. She is unable to walk far, so sleeps in the lounge and walking to the front door is exhausting for her. She is only awake for an hour or two before needing to sleep again. She may not see the birth of her next grandchild, due in a few weeks.
Please take this as encouragement to quit smoking - don't risk going through this. It's a horrible disease and watching my family go through this is very hard.
And my step-mums biggest regret was never quitting smoking, before it got too late . . . . .
Good luck all - you have lots of support x
sorry to hear mate our thoughs are with you
Thanks all - but I wasn't writing this for sympathy - more to try and prove that some of those nasty rumours about smoking (and it's dangers) are quite really, and affect normal people like us.
For any of you approaching 50, and have kids . . . . . . . . try to imagine saying goodbye to them.
My step-mum has 3 kids, 3 step-kids and 8 grandkids under the age of 10 . . . . . . .
stick with it all you folks who have quit . . . and for those considering/trying to quit - go for it! You have nothing to lose, but alot to gain!
Thank you for sharing,
Really deep, I'm sorry for what your family is going through.
Good luck to your family, the very best for your step-mum
2 Years done and dusted.
one downfall I am a Type 2 Diabetic and controlling my weight since stopping smoking has become hard.
Now on Tablets for my Diabeties and have a new goal to control my Weight to get off the Tablets.
Still giving up smoking has been the best decision I have made. (Other than buying Patrols)
haven't had one in about 2 years. Woke up one day and just didn't want one, the thought made me sick, and not been tempted since.
I'm at the end of my 24th day without a cigerette
