It was a dirty mining town years ago which polluted the river for years and everyone had two heads but is being cleaned up. Hope your grandfather was one of the normal ones:: no disrespect mate.

As Chrisso said Tallaganda National Park/ State Forest or the Tinderry Ranges are an hour away.
Nothing too exciting that I have seen Benny but I'll do some exploring soon

If few are keen we could do the Brinndies in a couple/few hours:)
