Cheers mate.
Will do.

I've done the drive around and no one stocks a 12x1.25 tee. Hard enough to find anything that's 1.25, so I'm going to tap in a new one here.

Has anyone got a 1/8 npt tap that I could borrow?
My gauge should arrive next week, after a mix up on there end. Ive run wires though the firewall and up and under the dash.
Where is the best place to get the +&- for the gauge and what about the light.
Had a search for someone else's install but couldn't find one.

Is something like this helpfull ???
check these out jay see http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5-X-ADD-A...YAAOSwa39Uyve7 credit to ET, its what I used to get +ve for my EGT gauge, I had an existing -ve wire connected to one of the bolts behind the centre part of the dash. You can also get those adapters from Repco and SCA however you'll pay a fortune for one.
Wanting to lose the plugs for the dash cam and the GPS. Is there any problems to cut the plugs off and wire them into the accessories somewhere. Don't think it would be a issue, but want to make sure.
Id probably stick with the 1 amp to be honest as you fuse for wire size and you size your wire by current draw
Cheers Lucus.
I'll put a 1amp inline fuse then.
What gps? Be careful as I tried to do this with my hema hn5 and cut the cord only to find out the ciggie plug actually houses a voltage/amp altering circuit board and it won't work with out the plug or some more extensive modifications to it all. I just rejoined the wires and went back to the plug. Haha. I now have a new cable (many years later)

Yeah unless your more switched on then me and simply solder a couple of power wires to the circuit board and seal em up / secure them behind dash somewhere etc to mount permanent. I've thought about this but just decided not anytime soon.

Just for an idea heres what Im going to run ontop the dash closest is
water temp in red digital, then a white faced clock as the OE one is
unreadable behind the ecu-Talk and the left gauge is a red digital volt
but that may change,,,the two silver switches are a momentary switch for my air horn
and an on/off fot the driving lights,
Ive also used a 5 to five watherproof plug to keep things flat
My speco plasma series gauges.

Have to let it cool down and fit an adapter for the oil pressure.
Do they have a dimmer for at night.?
I love gauges but i need for them to be all the same make so it looks trick.
Go black face red led digital like mine no glare at night time at all
No idea why pics go sideways grrrrr
My boost and egt gauge are Speco, very easy to read imo
No, but in this thread
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...ad.php?t=17150
It shows how to use the dimmer.
I'll need to try during different conditions, sunny, overcast and night to see how easy they are to read and to see if s dimmer is needed.
I to need to have all the gauges the same.
They look great in the pic,, Im like BA and love gauges much better than a red light coming on.
They appear from that picture they may be too bright at night, but only you could tell that.
They look easy to read at a glance so that a bonus eh.
I left a message with the makers of my digital gauges if they could make a 52mm red led clock.?
All was lost in translation, but I have a great 12v 52mm marine clock, much easier to read
than the LCD GU clock.
My temp gauge is wired up to my lights. Easy enough as there was a wire to do so, but the oil pressure gauge only has 3 wires positive, negative and sender.
Will it work if I run the light wire from the temp gauge to the positive on the gauge. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say.
Thats all I did with the 3 gauges on top of the dash all ign together all pos together and all earth together
then the water temp sender wire only had 5 x trailer wire coming out the bac of the gauge,
hope that makes sense, left me with one spare wire
Problem is the oil pressure gauge has only 3 wires. Where and what do I run the wire to light up the gauge only with my lights.
Nothing on Utube, what about to the back of the dimmer switch,
Mine didnt need back lights so never did that

This is what I've got with ignition on. When the lights are on the temp gauge lights up like the oil. I want the oil pressure to work like the temp.
The oil only has + & - and the sender of course. At the moment the + on the oil is with the + on the temp.
The Pos would be to accessories wouldnt it so it would only work with ignition
Not to the pos of the battery
Yeah, positive to ignition. Nothing going direct to battery.
I think that my problem is there is only one power wire that powers up the whole thing.
you wouldnt get your power from the dimmer switch wire would you ??
move the pos wire of the oil pressure gauge to the pos on the water temp gauge
think that sounds right.
I see your pillar pod is different to mine and you have room for some toggle
switches right of the gauges +++++
Get a cig plug with 450mm of wire and use this for test purposes
This is the back of the oil gauge.
Attachment 65109
And this is the temp gauge.
Attachment 65110
I think I'm stuck with how it is.
Check the spec's on the gauges and see if the have back light facility,
If it has they normally have a twist in LED at the back, I wouldnt think
it would have a built in LED
Can't see that last post ,,way too dark.
The idea of the cig plug and wires was to test the gauge
to see if you can get lights.
Any update JC ???
I know what you mean about the twist in LED and both gauges don't have that. The temp on has a yellow wire that gets connected to the lights or to the ACC. The oil doesn't have the yellow wire, so the positive must light it all up.
No real big deal if I can't get the blue parts to only come on with the lights.
Even rang speco and all they did was give me a number to a guy in Geelong, tried calling him and no one answers the phone.
I'm actually thinking of getting rid of both of them. They look brilliant at night, but a bit hard to read during sunny conditions.
Wanting to stick to the digital style. I'm thinking of these cheapies.

Just hope I don't have the same issues in sunny conditions.
