I use Fuel Saver Diesel Conditioner that also has a 1:1000 ratio per dose. When I used it in my old 2.8 litre Pajero diesel motor at this dose it had a huge impact. The motor ran a lot smoother and quieter. It was a 1995 model so the diesel back then would have had more sulfur in it so the diesel conditioner (which I suspect is mainly 2 stroke oil and maybe some cleaners) really worked. I still use it occasionally on my CRD Patrol but there isn't much of a difference that I can detect due to the common rails being designed around the current fuel.
From what I have read the 1:200 ratio for 2 stroke oil originated in Germany to pass their yearly smog test so it may be much higher than needed for every day use, but who really knows.
