I was thinking of putting a switch near the fuse that`s inside the engine bay, so I could turn the USB on and off, but it means that I need to open the bonnet though. But only a thought.

Its ok to run it hot from the Aux battery Ive done that with heaps of different devices over the yearsQuote:
