‘Scratchy Wattle’ (aka Red Wattle, Mallee Wattle or Acacia Monticola). This one is in the WA goldfields, but also grow in many other parts of the country. I think they are all the same species, prized for their usefulness in indigenous culture for making clap sticks (wood has a good ‘ring’) as well as digging sticks, boomerangs & even spear heads.
