Best of both worlds George, twin turbo V8 diesel!!!
I think Marks have adaptor plates/kits for a Viper V10 conversion.
Instead of changing your motor why not think about doing a Portal axle swap,
combined with two diff locks would see you go many places normal 4x4s couldn't
Your too generous Pete, thanks for funding that little project!
Well funny you should say that. The duramax conversions getting around are getting figures between 12-14/100. 400hp and 1000+nm of torque from a turbo 6.6 v8 commonrail diesel what's not to like :).
Have said that we can modify a TD42 to produce in the area of 300hp and still get 15/100 or less.
Realistically talking with our hands off our bollocks lol, i don't need that sort of power. I like to build my cars to be used thats why i have a toy to thrash around. I need to make the trol practical and reliable for how i use it which is towing the boat ( a bit over 1t) and a trailer full of firewood ( around 2t), wheeling is a bonus.
To put it into perspective a duramax conversion would be around 35k, a td42 and ls1/ls3 10 - 15k. Personally i aint spending more than 10k on my trol hahaha!!
Don't forget that the figures given so far are from lighter GQ's. I drive Miss Daisy and rarely give it some unless needed (on sand), most hwy driving I tend to stick around 100kph as that seems to be the sweet spot on my td42.
Now driving the tb42, that's a different kettle of fish all together, crap economy no matter what, where or how I drive so it's foot down and go :D
