I have eight done like that and have 4 more to do :( ouch my pocket although I am thinking of trying the spray plastic on one wheel and cut the bit off that I want shiny then I will clear coat the lot and see how it looks, it has to be cheaper than paying to get them done.
I sandblasted and painted my steelies on my GU, didn't cost much as my work has a sandblaster :)
Many years ago I had some alloys powder coated in Sydney, I think it was $30 for the lot. They acid dipped them or similar and then did them, came up a bloody treat! I'll try and find a pic tonight on the computer.

Sorry I'm late on this Yes I powder coated my OE rims and some Ti GQ rims for my trailer.
First you need to sand blast them, then you'll need to put silver paper in stud holes and around the inside of the rim.
As if you don't the powder coating with flake off causing the wheel to come loose.
Cost back then was $20 to sand blast and $20 to powder coat. Look brand new to this day 3 years on

Thanks heaps for all your input. I got quoted $40 a rim. Blast and coat in deep black. Similar finish to the pics I posted up.
That's a good price ,just remember to silver paper the taper on the stud holes,
and where rear wheels fit over that lip on hub,
Get them to clear coat them as well

As that was more money than i paid for the wheels, i painted mine myself , i sat some old wheel nuts into the nut tapers to stop paint getting in there.

geez go for it, mine were $700 for 4 and yes i too checked around but mine where also put on a cnc machine to cut the black off the face of them and then clear coated.Quote:

I really like the grey 3D, i think it looks trick, yours is a very nice grey too.
With greys, i think you have to be carefull to not use anything that may look like a primer grey.
The grey i wanted for my wheels ,was the same grey they use on the holden thunder utes (VE commodore), as i found out, there is NO paint code available for that grey, we got close, but could not reproduce it 100%.
Im very happy with the black wheels now, as ive gone the whole black and white theme, so grey wheels would not fit in as nice as black .:wink:
