Stainless is infact softer than mild steel..
Its the compound of which its made that makes it feel stiffer and heavier.
Once stainless is heated and cooled it becomes more brittle. That's why you have to be careful not to work harden stainless when drilling.. slow and steady and lots of fluid..

can i suggest you go for GR8.8 galvanized bolts , these have a coating of around 50 microns of zinc, the zinc bolts only have about 5 microns and will rust quicly when exposed to the elements
got an m14 - 1.5 bolt today to test the captive nuts in the bar. No go, its too thick. The bar looks like and ARB but im not %100 sure. Would all ARB bars have the same size bolts?
