If you have no snorkel the deepest water you should be in is just on wheel height - and even then you should be very careful and check your air box for water when you are on dry land.

I filled my drain hole with sika.. One less potential leak. And when I got my rubber from Clark rubber it was going to cost under a dollar so the fella couldn't be bothered with payment as I only had cards so he gave it to me lol
seal in perfect fit and mates are happy with theirs
only took 2 days to get
So what I want to know is ...... is the drain hole necessary? Is it there for when no snorkel is fitted? I know water shouldn’t get in but Mr Nissan obviously thought a drain hole was a good idea. Where is the air intake situated when no snorkel is fitted?
Thank forum chappies, checked our last night and it's starting to deteriorate and crack.
Ordered one from the net.
Like Cuppa asked, what happens if the drain hole is blocked?
Guess you have to check after rain and deep crossings to be sure.
Any other tips?
New one arrived today, the other fell apart when I took it out. Thanks for the lead
Without a snorkel fitted the air intake is from the inner guard. Think of all the dust the wheel stirs up! Any water that flicks up from there and enters the air box is supposed to drain via the hole in the bottom. Makes a snorkel look like a necessity doesn't it?
