Nah seriously, if I was in that position and there was no other way, I would at least try and take a winch cable over to the other side.. even with a strap connected to it for an extension so at least you couldn't go floating off down the river. I remember seeing footage of Albi Mangle doing this with a jeep. Winched through a really wide river completely flooding the car. Came out the other side and just dried it out, away he went. Granted, cars back then didn't have velour seats and electrics... but still.
