Now the bloody lappy is slow and just all rounds shit
Can it be fixed easily??
Lenovo, running Intel celeron n2840 @ 2.16Hz 2.16Gz
4Gb of ram, 3.89 usable.
Pretty sure it was win 8
Yea backed up all the photos etc.
Ok so Google for the uninstall
Quite easy to go back. But can only do it within the first month.
Geeze I must be close.
Anyway. Getting it done now.
Quote "this won't take long"
Yea right
Yep famous last words.......... I've just scored another free laptop from work, it's actually my old work laptop which has been playing up lately, I'm hoping that a fresh install of Windows 10 may fix any issues, if not then its a new hard drive for it. Either way, tis cheap cheap
Ok. So 8.1 is up and running sweet.
But it's now wanting to re update to 10 again.
I can't seem to find any info on stopping the update.
It's saying restart now to update.
Mate I don't know what you have done. Tbh I would refresh everything. If you type into the start menu on windows 8.1 "restore" you will find an option to refresh your installation. That's where I would be heading

Back up everything first??
G'day, all. I have finally received my digital scopemeter in the mail, but it doesn't have instructions.
I googled
https://www.google.com.au/webhp?sour...5%20scopemeter
and the fifth entry: Scopemeter manual -google docs came up. When i click on the link, it sends me to sign up on Gmail. My question is this:
Is it safe to sign in for this site? Cheers.
Yes mate, Gmail is made by Google, very popular and very safe.
Well, I signed in and it told me I couldn't use this the site.
Ah well, I've been fiddling with the scopemeter and have worked out 80% of the functions now. Having a bit of trouble with the chinese writing on one of the functions though. I' ll have to find a way to translate it.
Assuming you can't type Chinese, you could use bable fish translater and type what you think it might be ie "focus" or whatever and get it translate from English to Chinese. Then see if the symbols match.
I've tried that, it keeps saying: "Oops, something went wrong." I have found that the first character changes when pressing the ac/dc voltage button, so I am assuming it is just a chinese indication of it.
Is microsoft security essentials part of the protection provided microsoft, or just another bunch of #@$$^^&&% that I have inadvertently allowed onto the computer?
Thanks, Blokes. Phew! Last time a supposed "Anti-Malware" company wriggled its way onto the computer, we had to wipe it and start again. Cheers.
If your after a good av/anti malware product check out Webroot
I tried to open the GU manual I saved on a USB stick, and Windows Media Centre opened. It is happening everytime I try and read a pdf.
What do setting do I change to read pdfs as normal?
For win 7 but the same for win10
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/w...#1TC=windows-7
But you will have 2 select "choose another app"
I am using Chrome. Ha! I tried to read a pdf for young muddy nut's camera on the wordpad and it read it as computer language. When downloaded it, I saved it to the desktop and it saved as a windows media file.
Is there a page on the media program that reads pdfs?
I am not using windows 10, as I've read that you get stooged and end up having to pay for it.
On the PC, open file explorer, right click on the file and select properties, it should give you the file name with a file extension of .*** ( might have to left click on a details tab, but remember in previous win versions )
Example: Mudnut.pdf or Mudut.***
Whats the .*** say, as it doesn't sound like whatever you have is a pdf file
Hope that made sense
Yeah, not gunna fly:( I tried typing file explorer into the search function and got nothing.. It was definitely a pfd. It is trying to open all pdfs in windows media. Something is wrong somewhere. BANG HEAD!!!!
mudnutette reckons I need Adobe reader, but that comes with %#^$# mcafee.
It only comes up with WMC or wordpad, which reads all the files in computer language.
