Just a few of my knives....
Flee George! Save yourself and run! It's too late for us poor fools!
@ GKO I see the Cold Steel Tanto arrived looks very nice indeed, gee the Gil Hibben is a horse of a knife lol
Question is that Kukuri ? knife got a bit of age to it ? Two Tanto Eh!,
I've seen "U tube" video of cold steel Kukuri? knives cutting through 20 bits of sisal rope taped together very affective indeed
I'll be all right mate, i have strong will power i'll limit my self like my fishing gear and my cars.......
Yep! I'm doomed lol!!!
My old man made this the other day so we can hang the carcasses and turn them while processing. I'll go during the week and buy some stainless and make more. The bottom is stainless but the rest is a head bolt thru a bigger nut to turn and some rod to reenforce it
Attachment 44384
Ive made heaps of those great for dressing carcass's
Made a swing away arm for the BIL's ute when we went hunting
up NSW way. Could hang the body on that, made processing
very easy in the field.
Just thinking would be easy enough to make a portable one to fit the to hitch receiver.
Edit, heres another Pic of my fillet knife, with more practical scales , some type of diamond point ABS
Good price for Cold Steel plus the shipping is cheap as well , shop is worth a look IMO
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271297716...84.m1423.l2649
For what i'm using the hanger for i'll be better off making a few of them and hanging them off a tree on in a shed to drain out and process.
I should be getting most of my knifes this week intime for the big carve up next weekend.
Apart from using the steel, should i do anything to the knifes to prepare the blades in anyway ??
Not really the angle you sharpened them is the angle you need to steel them too.
Main reason butchers don't lend knives as you steel naturally differently to say me.
Don't saw with a knife if you have to sharpen the knife. Don't force knife , you know all this
anyway, might need a stainless glove?
4x4 Australia Mag are doing a piece on survival knives in the coming issues, Its a follow on from last issue. I'll keep all informed,
My Jade sharpening stone arrived I need to repair some marks on a Samurai sword, Some good articles
this issue,
Saw both my GP and Surgeon today to say they are ticked off with QBE is beyond belief.
My surgeon is sending a very stern letter with phases like we are ppl not numbers.
and how long does he have to suffer before you PK the procedure and marked Urgent
fingers crossed
The kukuri is genuine and is one of my favorites. It has an edge you have to feel to believe and, having used it in the field to chop and dig, it just keeps going! (I have neglected it for a long time and need to remedy that.)
The smaller Tanto I have, from Cold Steel, is on youtube cutting a 1 1/4in free standing manila rope in a single horizontal slash. The punched through a car door and the cut on the rope preformed again. Its why the Tanto IS my favorite.
Awesome ,I've seen the Utube on the Kukuri cold steel cutting the rope.
The choice of the be-headers lol. That piece of jade I just got is for polishing blades .
mind you don't get much Jade for $10. but I have some marks that I need to remove
and hoping the Jade will work, Even those twin water stones might do the job.
The mob that do the survival range are called Heiman Habitat in conjunction with Fox Artistic Creations
They are doing a blade for trade test soon, Also a great bit of reading from the guy who invented the Leatherman multi tool
and a bit on Bear Grylls Survival knife [Over priced Gerber]
@ OD & GKO you may find this dude interesting, he makes survival tools [knives]
Which has a POA tag meaning $$$$$$.
but other gear he sells seems reasonable, love the bumper sticker saying
"KIDS THAT HUNT AND FISH DONT STEAL OR DEAL'
Should get Taslucas onto that
http://www.heimanhabitat.com.au/heim...rdashery.html#
these arrived 62x45 waterproof and infra red night vision, only $30
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Waterproo...item53fdd75e10
Just scored a Smith and Wesson Tanto Tac knife delivered for less than $18 and ordered these other 2 on the weekend.
@TD, should have your sheathes in the post either today or tomorrow, have been finishing off the edges for you after shaping 1 of the sheathes.

very nice indeed, more ACU molle gear arrived as starting to fill that vest.
Found a shop that only does Kukri knives all sizes, army issue.http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151299237...84.m1423.l2649 I'll drop off the top one with the hollow handle but the other two are sweet
is that middle one what they call a boot or neck knife. Found a Tanto before then has no steel in it whats so ever I'll find it for you to check
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121167910...84.m1423.l2649
That's one weird knife but price is a guide there.
Do you or have you used a "Fire Piston" just wondering if its worth while even as a toy so to speak.
Thanks again on the sheaths they look awesome.
I was writing this as George was too nice set for someone who's keeping this in check
7 knives in one hit tells a different story lol lol
Let us know what the Gerber kit is like as I am considering getting a set.
Never used a fire piston, will have a look around and see what they are and what they are like
Lol!! John i have 3 more on their way hahaha
No dramas OD, sunday i'll be processing a few goats so i'll let you know mate
lashed some chute cord to one of my walking sticks. it amazes me how much you can put on.
Next time I'm bush I'll look for a longer pole, did have one but left it behind one weekend away
I have around 300ft of red, black and blue para cord, great stuff that can be used for everything and anything.
Have a heap of whistle side buckles for paracord bracelets as well.
My personal kit has around 10m of red para cord
Yeah , I'm going to buy more looks like it will be handy even at camp like fencing wire
My mates have made lanyards out of para cord to hold their duck callers on. Heres a pic
Attachment 44502
I can see a rabbit caller going on them, very nice work.
what are the prices,
Good idea for kids having a whistle on them
That's some impressive knot work.
Closest I have come to something like that was a sling for my single shot .22 I made up.

I am quite keen to hear how that Gerber Myth set goes as well George. Will end up getting it as want a knife with a gut hook.
@ 3D, If you've never had a Kukri before John, it will amaze you with how good it is. As for that fibreglass tanto.... that's gonna sh1t customs as it will be undetectable to scanners...
@GKO I've seen plenty of vision of them in action on "U"tube. Its the perfect shape for a chopping action or swing.
If you checked that link to the survival gear his POA knife is sort of Kukri shaped. I understand they are army issue in some countries.
I found a shop that only sells Kukri knives complete with the Karda and chakmak,
, This is the shop this Knife is not the one I'm getting I'm after one with a more traditional flaired handle, what do you think of this shop,
noticed a lot are made from car springs
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151298800...84.m1423.l2649
Some nice bits in there
Sent from my iPhone using Motorculture mobile app
Knowing where the blades originated and what they can do, the fact that some are made from car springs makes no difference to me. The abuse I have hurled at my kukri over the years and it has just kept on trucking. IMO they are one of the most versatile and robust knives ever created, no to mention sharp as a mofo!
Not putting car spring steel down I'm sure plenty of great blades have come from them. In fact I have some waiting to be turned into a knife at some stage
That survival guys Knife is loosely the shape of a kukri blade, This is the one I'm thinking of getting,,
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151299237...84.m1423.l2649
Only some different type of fire starter arrived today,
you fill a small lighter with lighter fluid and strike a stick with a wick along the edge
No good for survival if fluid runs dry eh lol
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/111324006...84.m1497.l2649
what size is a good Kukri I'm thinking 10"
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EXTREMA-R...item461b6ed37e
For got to reply the other day but John my mate does those lanyards as a hobby but when people ask to buy them off him he sells them for $35 heres a few more pics of different colors

Oh and Gecko and OD what exactly do you want me to do to test the gerber kit i got ?? The small blade is too small to use to slaughter but out of curiosity i cut the crust of a roll and it cut thru without creasing the roll lol
Anything really or bunnies etc if you get any.
TD, i have a few of those little zippo matches, not the best as you say with the fluid and the o rings are brittle.
That is an awesome khukri and would love 1 but not for $600.
No dramas then, see how i go!
Those khurki knife looks alot like they're middle eastern type of blade ?? The shape of it has me intrigued especially the little knifes that come with them, would they be throwing knifes ??
The Khukri knife originated in Nepal. It was taken on by the Gurkha Army regiments around the world. It is more of a short machete than anything else and was used as a tool more than a knife by the Nepalese.
We had an exercise with the Ghurkas years ago. They were to play the part of the enemy. We asked them how we would know if they killed us and were told that they would attack at night and that our boot laces would be cut, simulating us having our throats cut.
Being the smart, war savvy soldiers we were and not about to be taken down by a bunch of hillbilly dwarves from some God-forsaken frozen place, we came up with the brilliant plan to keep our boots on at night and, as we were sleeping in underground trench just big enough to lie in that was about 6 feet long and about 3 feet by 3 feet square at the mouth, we would make sure our boots were at the end of the pit.
When we woke up in the morning, those sneaky little mofo's had paid us all a visit in the night. None of the posted sentries had seen a thing and all, to a man, had had our boot laces cut.
The Ghurkas are considered one of the best fighting forces on the planet, and given what I know and have heard about them, I concur.
As for the little "Knives" in the scabbard, they are actually sharpening and honing pieces....
@ George click on the link to the Kukri shop and it tells the story and of the two small knives.interesting specs too
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151299237...d=634186908619
@ GKO sounds like Up the Kyber pass all over again.lol I like the fact the spine is nearly 10mm
and the RC tests different like a samurai sword blade. Hopefully the one I buy is army issue.
Playing with the Molle vest boy is that going to be warm in winter time. not many pouches
but the guy at airsoft is looking after me.
Family 4x4 does a bit of shooting I wonder if he uses a gut hook of some description
Lancy at Airsift does a good job, have been looked after by them for awhile now as well.
@Gecko, the old man had similar encounters with the Gurka's in his time in the green skins as did a mate of mine who is ex Rhodesian SAS.
I think I created another monster in TD with the molle gear lol, here is a pic of my survival / patrol pack that I have almost finished. The small waist pack on the left will be mounted on my cargo barrier.

LOL was already, I love everything having a box, pouch or tin, just makes sense to me and easier to find your gear to.
Only a few catches arrived so I can lock my Ghillie kettle box, just like a toolbox latch.
I have that waist pouch as well, but slowly I'm putting more shelves and dividers in .
Was going to seal the whole cargo area in and velcro gear to the wall
Just ordered 1 of these
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221397329...84.m1497.l2648
Boy does that look brutal, nice but brutal.
Saw some of those tactical style ones but think Ill get the "farmers Kukri"
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10-Workin...item233a25ce12
Should have brought that bigger day pack as a starting point, just noticed the waist bag fits under rear of the pack.
But have my Camel pack ,,I mixed colours but now as the vest is ACU I will stick to that, most other molle pouches are Tan
has anyone seen these cheaper??
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281230890...84.m1423.l2649
Getting one of these too
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/310955317...84.m1423.l2649
The mob I got mine from in the link above have a similar set like you link for around $20 plus postage and are in VIC from memory.
I chose the larger pack as I wanted as much "prepper" gear as I could just in case for remote trips, still looking for lighter / multi purpose gear as I go.
Pack came with the belt bag and I added the other pouches, the black molle clips on the front of the pack are awesome clips, many sellers of them now around the $30 mark for 50 clips
